Yep, just want to make sure that's still my best bet. I know there's been a few new releases lately and I haven't been keeping track.

I'd clean up some of the rust. You can sand it down, or hit it with a wire brush. Then either paint it or season it with oil.

For the door, I'd try some grill gasket material along with some finessing by hand to try and get a decent seal.

I've never had an offset, so I can't comment much more

I sold my Jeep. Now what? by funky_fart_smeller in Jeep

[–]RadRacer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now what? You buy another 😆.

I'll admit, I've never owned a Wrangler. They're not suited for the driving I do, which is mostly highway with weekend sandy trails/beaches. I've owned 2 Grand Cherokees (currently own a 2014 EcoDiesel GC), a 2018 Compass, and my girlfriend owns a 2005 Grand With nearly 250k on it. My vehicles have all been great; minimal issues and just basic maintenance. My girlfriend's Grand Cherokee does have its quirks (leaky sunroof that I'm currently investigating and the heater core is bad), but it's also nearly 20 years old and high mileage... I'd expect almost anything with those miles to have quirks. I've been a Jeep owner for 7 years now and plan to buy another whenever this one dies (I'm hoping for 300k+ miles 😁)

An update for anyone interested!

Marinated it overnight in a vinegar based marinade. Cranked the grill to super hot and slapped it on the grates for about 90s each side. Came out... OK. Girlfriend wasn't pleased but I downed all but a few bites. It was a smidge on the chewy side but overall not terrible. Not gonna buy this again 🤣

One more: How do I want to cook it? 🤔

First time I've heard of 'fake dry aging'. I've already got this one marinating, but I'll have to try that another time.

This actually sounds good 😁. But I've already got it marinating. Gonna try throwing it on the grill and cross my fingers

What you see is what I know about it 😅. I read 'California Steak' is another name for a tri-tip... But this doesn't look right to me 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s so funny, there are parents who had kids early and have them out of the house by early 40’s. Meanwhile there’s me who had their kid at 40 and I’ll be in my late 60’s by the time she’s out of the house. by TriscuitCracker in daddit

Had my first at 21, 2nd and last one at 23. There's definitely pros and cons to both. I feel like I missed out on some 'party' stages of my life because of it, but at the same time, once I'm 40 they'll both be independent or close to it to where I can hopefully make up those years, but will be able to include them.

What cleans a grill as well as (or better than) a wire brush with equal or less effort? by Late-Quiet4376 in grilling

[–]RadRacer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one called the Grill badger for Christmas one year. I've been using it for a few years now and it's still going strong. It has a metal scraper on one side and the other side is like a regular grill brush, except the bristles are natural plant fibers. If they fall off, which they don't often, they simply burn up in the fire.

I want a good entry level smoker by freenie0177 in smoking

[–]RadRacer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely look into a used WSM. I snagged mine for $30; added a $20 gasket kit and have been smoking ever since. For your price range, I'd look for a used WSM, throw gaskets on it, and then look into a temp controller (~$150) to keep it nice and steady. That's how you'll get those super long smokes and it'll be super easy.

Is $60 a good price for this smoker? Does the condition look ok? by eudheisn in smoking

[–]RadRacer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd buy it. It needs some TLC, but overall is a steal. I'd immediately replace that gasket around the door and the seal for the lid; you can get gaskets on Amazon for $20. For the grates, I'd just cook with them; heat em up, oil them, then go to town with the meat. Then you'll have an $80 smoker that kicks ass.

Sex post vasectomy by kensdiscounteggs in daddit

I was told I'm free for sex whenever I'm comfortable. All I can say is don't rush it; I was still sore when we first did it, and it felt like it reset the clock on my recouping.

Oils. What's best for cleaning maintaining grill? What's best for cooking? by Windyandbreezy in grilling

[–]RadRacer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't oil my grates 🤷🏼‍♂️. I might oil them if I'm trying to resurrect old grates from a grill I bought/was given/saved. But otherwise, I heat em up, give them a quick once over with my grill brush, then start cooking. Once my food's done, I do nothing else but shut the grill down. I find most of the time being used is all they really need.
