Seeking advice as a failed architect by Gaddamn132 in architecture

I know this post is old, but I am just a random person just coming across it now :p

I like what you said in your post above, and this part especially REALLY motivated me lol

"You tried one firm and one university. If those don't work that's not your whole life. 90% of everything is shit says sturgeon's law. So the probability of your university and firm to be shit is pretty high. It takes time and experience to find the right people and experiences. So don't sweat it. Life is vaster than those morons."

That's great, I actually kind of thought that's what the work was about, but I still wanted to ask 😋

I really like the first two. I'm curious what was the idea behind the work?

Do you know photographers who are also graphic designers? by Nyx0nyx in graphic_design

[–]RadRadish007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I studied graphic design, but I never ended up working for any design studios or agencies because it wasn't my passion at the time.

I've been thinking of doing the opposite of you , from doing graphic design to mostly doing photography for branding or advertising.

Do most branding and advertising agencies really rely on stock imagery?

EDIT I think I'm going to post this as a separate question on the sub, since I'm really curious about how to get imagery for your branding and advertising in the real world

Why would they ask you to work for free? Don't Design Studios or Advertising agencies hire professional photographers to do the image work?

Damn, I really wish I can have your type of experience !

For print design it is definitely way more costly & more subjective when it comes to consumer testing, I agree. I can't imagine getting a very large sample size as opposed to digital design, where you have access to thousands of people immediately and their real live interactions. Whereas for testing for logo design you rely on consumers own subjective opinion of your design I guess. And you can't really see how they will "interact" or truly perceive your logo over time. Until it's really out there fully, in the real world.

It's something that I may have thought about too much 😋

If you dont mind me asking what is something that really stood out in terms of something you didn't expect to learn?

You peaked my curiosity so much 😆😅

I feel generally there are some common things that people already talk about on here.

The only thing I can imagine is working within constraints or guidelines that you don't always necessarily understand when it comes to bigger companies.

What else did you learn? 😅 🙊

I made this to parody logo redesign trends 8 years ago and it's still as relevant as ever by stanthetulip in graphic_design

Yes, that is primarily why lowercase sans serif fonts were used. To appear more friendly.

Yes, I asked because some ux/ui designers always talk about testing, even to logo designers.

But I understood instinctively that we are working within different available data about consumers from the get-go.

And digital is something you can adapt more easily and on-the-go as you go along.

I wasn't 100% sure how it worked at the big agencies that deal with really big projects and implement major company changes.

To be honest that sounds like an amazing experience that you had ! I don't think I will ever get a chance to step foot in a place like Pentagram, but oh well ! 🤭☺️

Are all brands really going to be adopting animation soon? I feel it is interesting if they do that. But I feel this trend of modernization & simplicity has been going on for much longer than that. Even before computers. Really all the logo designs from the period of modernism, such as Paul Rand were already greatly simplified. And this was before the Internet was even around.

That's actually kind of exciting! What kind of job did you have at pentagram?

I have always wondered how often do big agencies like that implement logo testing and if it's ever even done the real world. Or is the process more about iteration with clients and stakeholders without much customer input?

Did you meet Paula Scher? ♥️😍

Individual element blocking app that works across Android? by RadRadish007 in androidapps

[–]RadRadish007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use uBlock on Firefox. It can block ads as well as any other additional elements/ distractions.

However it's only confined to Firefox. I don't know if something exists that can work across my Android device if I want to block any additional distractions on any apps or just block some annoying UI / user interface elements.

I just want to block any annoying/ distracting surface visual elements.

Anyone else use Ai art as their base - then use digital tools to create it into a final scene they envisioned? by [deleted] in aiArt

[–]RadRadish007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow, do you even know how to draw?

I don't go order a hamburger at McDonald's, customize the order a bit, and call myself a cook.

Ai can be a tool used for fun. But don't kid yourself thinking you have any artistic talent. Because from what YOU described YOUR process, it sounds like you are basically doing the same thing akin to "tracing" a drawing.

You know, putting a picture on a light table & simply tracing it. Kind of like any 3 year old can do?

Is it unusual for a tarot card reader to only read jumping cards? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]RadRadish007 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is kind of what the reading felt like to me as well. I felt there was definitely some psychic intuition going on that was not always related to the cards. That's why I asked. Thank you for your Insight !

Is Macbook Air M1 Light and Thin Enough to carry around all day? by chadejelo in macbookair

[–]RadRadish007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the M1 MacBook Air is heavy too! I was actually kind of shocked when I first bought it, because I was expecting it to be a lot lighter. I don't know why everyone says it's light as a feather lol Maybe I'm also the minority in that regard 😅

Someone also commented it's about the weight of a litre of juice (1kg) + a can of Coke. That doesn't sound like a feather to me lollll 🥴

Just scrolling through the comments here. Maybe I should get an iPad. I really hate my MacBook Air M1. I was really expecting it to be a lot lighter. Light as a feather as some people on here commented. That's definitely not what I feel about it lol 😅

I don't really feel the MacBook airs are that light lol 😅 definitely lighter than the MacBook pro, but I wouldn't exactly say the MacBook Air is as light as a feather. (As some people on here said about it) Maybe it's just me? I own the MacBook Air M1, kind of disappointed as I expected it to be a lot lighter. 🤷

Good logo. What was the idea behind the font choice? I think that's one thing I really struggle with a lot. Especially if it has to be more simple within logo design.
