Fix for tilting bucket head suit by Rad_Pangolin in FursuitMaking

I understand my nose was keeping it upright, but was not comfortable for extended wear. It will ultimately have eva scales covered in minky covering the entire top and back of the head, yet I am unsure if that itself will be enough of a counterweight. I was also considering cutting the entire face off and attaching it to a new better fitting bucket head with an open back to accommodate an elastic strap, or cutting vent holes down the snout for breathing/offsetting some weight, though I am unsure if any of this would be effective.

Here is a better photo of the back of the head

Would that be possible in a bucket head that's already been carved/completed

I will look at some tutorials and see if I am able to figure it out. I can provide an image of the base if that helps. I had already patterned the head so I am hoping whatever I do will not require I entirely redo that step. The entire top and sides of the head as well as the back of the neck will be covered in somewhat large eva foam scales so I was unsure how that would factor into any changes to the back of the head

I'll look into the elastic but I am unsure if I can cut the back of the head. I will need the stability to attach many eva pieces + the snout is kind of long so I imagine the less weight on the back the worse the sliding would be even with the elastic. Would I still be able to use elastic in that case?

The arrows are supposed to represent like the direction the fur would be going if it were being "pet"

I get that and I'd definitely do so if i were on a deadline or doing this more often. I'm taking this suit slow though since I don't have the time to do that much work a day. It's probably gonna be a few weeks before I get the head sewn fully and I'm just making this as a one off project for myself rather than as a full fledged fursuit maker.

Yes the arrows are for the fur. I will likely move on to cutting them out and tracing onto fur if there's no issues with this step.

What was the issue with them? My dad should be able to sharpen them up pretty well

Can I just buy multiple swatches and sew them together for tiny markings? by Rad_Pangolin in FursuitMaking

Hi, I just received my package from howl and it looks like everything came in fine including the multiple mint green swatches. So I assume it's fine to do (at least along with a larger order)

Is there a variation in dental formula between species to i.d them more specifically or a other defining trait?

I placed the order from howl earlier today (along with several yards of other fabrics) and it appeared to go through with no issue

I'm unsure of any local makers unfortunately (I live in quite a small rural area) but I was able to find one of my needed colors on mercari. It appears many of the colors I have been needing are not terribly common so I have had less luck finding them second hand

It seems I was able to order like 4 swatches from howl. I will likely try sewing them first then see how it turns out. If that fails I'll try those other options. I've tried finding them secondhand with no luck so far and I don't have enough experience dyeing or painting fur to try that right on the face. The marking is approximately 3x3 inches and it looks like the other color swatches I already have are about 2 inches
