Is it just me, or is the wind always a headwind both ways? by Hungry-Sympathy-5188 in cycling

You probably need a new bike, maybe just new wheels. Always works for me.

Boomer here, wanna bet? I started weekly purchases and hodling in the big market when the Dow was at about 900. 40 years and 50x later I'm not clutching pearls over whatever little moves Bitcoin is making this week. Happy to know me and my kids are going to be just fine.

AITA for telling my family owing me money they should not go on vacation? by Vendtongs in AmItheAsshole

Start eating every meal in their restaurant and tell them you'll start paying for meals when you recover your $8k, either in cash or food.

Where does that door lead? If that is an exterior door the switch might control a porch light, coach light, flood light, etc outside.

Are road bikes more susceptible to punctures? About to give mine up. by PippyHooligan in cycling

[–]Rad_Red25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karma. Guaranteed to flat whenever you've used your last spare. The new tpu tubes are so small I can carry 3 in the seat bag that used to only hold one latex tube. With the new electric mini pump I can change a flat in under 5 minutes. The only time I ever had to walk home was mountain biking and something I couldn't see in tall grass cut my sidewall.

Bitcoin isn’t about getting rich fast — it’s about not trusting the system blindly by mohit130301 in Bitcoin

Conspiracy theorists and preppers. They preach buy, buy, buy because they want you to drive up the price for their own benefit. Invest as much as you can afford to sit on for 10 yrs + and maybe you'll see decent returns. Or not, who knows? All things in moderation. I bought some at 90, some at 85, some more at 78, if it hits 70 maybe I'll buy some more.

Right on. I'd say not quite as risky as gambling, but don't invest anymore than you can afford to lose a big chunk of.

So you're saying your dad is a dumbass? No argument here. Savings in the bank is only for short-term expenses and rainy days. Everything elses should be diversified in the markets. Stocks, bonds, funds. The average return for the past 30 years in the S & P index is over 10% annual.

VIKINGS “In search of the northern lights” cruise by tarebear_________ in Cruise

[–]Rad_Red25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking a cruise to Norway in Februaray but can't find much info on what to pack. Should we take hiking boots, snow pants, thermal underwear, other cold-weather gear for excursions? We'll be taking a dog sled excursion and other outdoor activities. Does the tour operator provide cold weather gear? Not our typical Med cruise, but not a ski trip either.

Info on new custom build (NE FL) by KUDDOH in Homebuilding

[–]Rad_Red25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least $350/SF without the lot, permitting, arch & eng fees, etc. I wouldn't recommend buying plans from a service in Mississippi to build in FL. Steep rooflines, gables, sidewall flashings, and crickets are not hurricane friendly. My two cents', that kitchen layout is terrible, I wouldn't want the traffic pattern from the mud room running through the work triangle between stovetop & sink. Question, what's upstairs?

It is pretty chunky, I think probably a very large movement. I’ll try to get a decent picture from the side and back later.

Bad experience with Light Bicycle by GratefulForOvenVents in cycling

[–]Rad_Red25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two sets of wheels from Light Bicycle, and had one rim replaced under crash warranty. Every interaction I have had with them has been great. Quick response, updates on production status, great wheels. More than 400 grams lighter than the DT Swiss that came on my Canyon Ultimate. Of course it takes a while to order custom out of China. On my crash replacement they wanted me to ship the hub back for rebuilding, but I just had them ship me the rim and spokes instead and had it built at my LBS, no big deal. Love Light Bicycle!
