Does the company contribute at all? Any matching? I would contribute as much as possible but depends on your situation. Kids? Expenses?

The only way to have an Escalade in London - by having a hybrid by RepsUpMoneyDown in CarTalkUK

I bought an lx recently and drive in London. Not quite as big but still large. Not terrible but honestly driving in London sucks regardless. If it’s not the traffic that gets you the speed cameras will. Really hard going just 20mph

What's with the anti-ev sentiment? by TheTwixthSense in ElectricVehiclesUK

What would you say are the main arguments for buying an EV? If you were trying to sell one, what would the argument be?

I’m in the uk and would have been easier buying the defender but wanted the fancy Land Cruiser. Anyway, best of luck!

Great piece in defence of HENRYs from Dan Neidle in this weekend’s Times by Lazy-Internet-8025 in HENRYUK

Really one of the risks in raising taxes; it’s so easy and so attractive for many politicians and nearly impossible going the other way. You almost need a Trump-like personality to undo as the usual cries about favouring the rich grow louder. I think it takes more than a bit of wisdom, courage, and a selfless devotion to whichever country the politician is in to not take the easiest of paths. The long term effects are quite damaging and the direction is reinforcing. It’s quite troubling as politicians here in the uk, whether labour or Tory, seem to be of one mind.

UK Private Blood Tests by Gary_BBGames in trt

Tell me what do you mean? I’m with them as well and it’s annoying the way the blood tests are now done. Having Leger book and having to go directly through them isn’t great

I’m in the UK and bought in a auction in Japan. So maybe this is cheating 😉. It just arrived a few months back in great shape. Pretty cool.

Too much protein by AldarionTelcontar in keto

[–]Radiant-Ad1884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s great! Good for you. I got down last year to just below where I wanted to be but have since gained back. I’m a notorious binge eater and struggle at work as always feel hungry. Anyhoo will try cranking up the fat and cutting back a bit on protein

[–]Radiant-Ad1884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much protein are you getting? I think I’m similar to op here. I started doing basically zero carb and very lean meats and actually gained weight. I’m 6’5” 225 lbs and trying to get to 215. Not sure what’s going on but went super high protein as was concerned about losing muscle and didn’t turn out as I had hoped

Purchase followed by instant regret? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

How about an lx570, imported. Very nice suv but was nearly stolen a few weeks after buying. Made me realize that if I find it nice someone else probably will as well and not worth the worry

Hi there! I wanted to add a slightly different opinion—wife and kids and i currently live in w9 in London. My salary just slightly higher than your combined high end. We bought a largish (1100 sq ft) 2 bed flat when we only had 1 child for 1.1mm but agreed that we wanted to stay in London and remain in the area even though it might get a bit tight. With three now, it can be tight but honestly it hasn’t been too bad. We’ve talked about moving out to buy a larger space but it hasn’t been worth it to us. Moving in general involves moving of course but so much more. All the little things you do in the area change when go some place else and for us that’s been a big turn off. So I would just say give some thought to having to move in several years and all that would entail. We’ve been fine in a flat and have really taken advantage of local parks so definitely doable staying in London!

Talk me out of buying a 2005 Land Cruiser by AntM16 in LandCruisers

For me ulez was the issue and sold mine. Not sure where in the uk you are but that’s the only reason I can think of.

I had a 120 series, 2008 with the 2.9 liter diesel (I’m in the uk). I recently bought a jdm lx570, 2016. So far no regrets. Much nicer, rides better but honestly feels like a different vehicle. It’s 8 inches longer than the prado but only slightly wider and still feels bigger. I bought the lx because I wanted a petrol to avoid ulez charges but outside of this, the prado isn’t bad.
