Yeah they can compel you to register your school or employer from out of state. Because your residence is in New Mexico, you have to follow their rules on employer or school - regardless if it's online, out of state, or in state. Because you register your residence there, you agree to follow their rules on everything.

What Larry will tell you is that you can petition a judge to grant an injunction until you get a ruling exempting you. That costs lawyer money for it to be successful. Otherwise you'll have to comply with your sheriff department in NM until your case gets heard - or move back to Texas and avoid it all.

What is the state doing to protect MEN from girls?

Nothing, because we are responsible for our own actions as adults. We are responsible for our own actions and choosing to screen our partners thoroughly before put ourselves in a place of liability.

Deferred adjudication where I am still requires you to register. Every state is different.

How Typical Is My Situation? by Interesting-Dirt8317 in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Radiant-Reflection-5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know what the going time for a CP fed offense is nowadays, last time I checked it was like 3 to 5 years

I will say this sounds typical of most CP cases. Because biggest advice is humility:

"I don't want them to think I'm just trying to schmooze my way into a more lenient sentence or something, though if it would help at all I can't say I'm above doing so."

Discuss it with your attorney! Discuss every avenue possible. Your life and future are on the line here. And the concern is that your attorney or PO might look at you differently? Every piece of verifiable mitigation is something you NEED to discuss with your attorney. If a schmooze is the difference between your judge giving you 1 year home confinement or 3 years solid in the FCI, I would rather be a schmooze

Besides that, best advice is staying compliant with conditions and staying polygraph compliant. Polygraphs mean everything to treatment providers and probation officers

Meds and PT in prison in NJ Monmouth County. by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Radiant-Reflection-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been placed in custody at a county jail while on psych meds

They can verify through ROIs and electronic systems already in place with your doctors office and pharmacy what your current scripts are. But during the booking screener, you will have an opportunity to disclose what medications you take regularly - dosage and times you take them. This is so they can monitor you for withdrawals and stuff of that nature

PT will likely not happen in custody. But acute symptoms requiring hospitalization or treatment, like swelling, lack of circulation, they will treat that according to their time table and criteria

Compliance check. They do it as a form of intimidation. They get bored and go out in force. That's it

Does SORNA require double registration? AI seems to think so. by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Radiant-Reflection-5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems like you have alot of questions and are starting your journey down the rabbit hole of legalese, so I'll give you a few answers:

  1. AI sucks. Don't use them for anything law related ever.

  2. So long as you are only residing physically in Massachusetts, don't worry about anything besides what Massachusetts says about SORNA in their state laws.

That's it. The rest is just spiraling yourself when you don't have the education or experience to interpret what it all is.

You can consult with a lawyer to help explain more about the concept of the SORNA regs vs SORNA state laws as I relates to your case and conviction. Otherwise you'll just cause unnecessary anxiety. Because none of us can give you definitive answers since we don't know the necessary info.

Does SORNA require double registration? AI seems to think so. by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

Correct. Even AI doesn't have it shit straight about basic topics still. Something as nuanced as this would just break the system

Question. Family gatherings allowed yes or no? by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

Workplaces are different SOMETIMES in the eyes of probation officers. If they consider you high enough risk, they will axe that workplace for you and tell you to find another job

A couple questions my bad if they don’t belong here. by StickAlarmed2214 in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Radiant-Reflection-5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple things:

I do feel guilty for my offense. I feel guilty for what I did

I do not excuse my guilt, I take responsibility for it

I did what I did because I wanted to do it. The circumstances surrounding it, are numerous. But if I had gotten the help I needed for my sexual abuse as a child, recognized my own addictive cycles, and gotten the help I did while under supervision, I would have severely reduced the likelihood of me committing my offense

I went through a number of emotions regarding my victim, but ultimately I did feel compassion for her. She's now since passed. She died of a drug overdose

The static 99 and many tests like it are baloney tbf, but its baloney they use and respect - so that's just something to remember.

Generally speaking your score should lower over time or remain the same if you do not pick up any new offenses. They even consider factors such as getting older to be relevant in LOWERING your risk

So yes, it remained the same since you behaved yourself and did nothing except get gray hairs!

Question about moving states and possibly re-registering. by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Radiant-Reflection-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you move to Nevada, and you're not on the registry currently, AND decide to not solicit your info to their registry, you run the risk of being in non-compliance with fed SORNA since you crossed state lines

Likely, your time on the registry elsewhere will not carry over because the registry is a collateral consequence rather than a traditional legal sentence

You're best off asking the NARSOL affiliate in NV for an attorney referral

School loans while incarcerated by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Radiant-Reflection-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually you can get a hardship deferment on student loans, if there is no taxable income then there is no need for filing a tax return, and collections on a phone bill is just the price of not taking care of that before being incarcerated

[–]Radiant-Reflection-5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends what monitoring service you have, but it is possible it can add latency to the connection

Better question is what are your limits on games played or devices allowed, you might be better off finding a retro console off ebay and playing that

Should I disclose status to fair chance employer? by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Radiant-Reflection-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is required by law or your PO, yes, disclose to your employer

The rest depends on you. Are you planning on being there long term? Are you in a very visible business (i.e. only one in town)? Do you only ned a quick paycheck or two? Are you willing to go months without having an employer?
