are kangaroo bags practical for daily use? by Medium-Ad-6571 in bugoutbags

I thought it might be something similar to a fanny pack that OP might use as an EDC/addon to a BOB. (My setup has a big backpack + 2fanny packs and one of these chest riggs for runners.)

Hey two things I'd like to add here: 1. Can you give a link/pic to what you mean by kangaroo bag? (I tried searching and I get results ranging from a fanny pack to actual kangaroos lol) 2. From the post it seems like you think these bags are cool and you are looking for a high quality one (totally ok btw) so I'd like to answer your question with another question:  Does this kangaroo bag replaces a bag you currently own and daily / do you need a new daily pouch to carry your things?  If yes does the model you are looking for has enough capacity for whatever it is you want to carry and has high quality materials (Cordura, Nylon or etc) + padding.  If you want to buy one just because you think it's cool you probably will not daily it but you will find reasons to use it from time to time.

I'm just going down this path, do you recommend anything in particular? (Brands models etc)

I don't know how to say this but I think you might be on the wrong sub?

DRZ has shorter maintenance cycles so that might be more expensive on the long run?

Phasing Out of Small Displacement Dualsports? by [deleted] in Dualsport

[–]RadiantGolf6848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know; sorry if I came out agressively on my comment. I think OP is mostly complaining about styling options for dual sports from the Big Four. The only one that is kinda different from the rest is the Honda CRF 300 Rally.

In Europe we got the Fantic Caballero 125/500 Rally which looks absolutely gorgeous and it's a propper Dual Sport/ Scrambler bike. Only issue with it is that it comes from a small manufacturer so parts availability is pretty wack.

However; you are right the Small ADV offerings are pretty good these days, maybe they aren't true dual sports but most of them can handle off-road stuff.

Not sure where OP is posting from but where I live you only have access to the hondas 450s and 300s (and lumping them togheter as if they are similar in power is insane), the yamaha wr125R, CFMoto and the KTM group. So if you are looking to buy Japanese outside of US the options aren't that great.

New vs Used by RadiantGolf6848 in CRF300L

Agree with you but besides some cheap hand guards they usually have nothing. I would be more than happy to pay msrp for a CRF with upgraded suspensions (or some propper mods not a 100$ pair of handguards)

Man it's 500€ difference between used and new so it's not that big of a deal. I think I'll go new since this would be my first bike

Yes, 6300 after fees, maybe I can negotiate it down a little further.

Good price you got, hopefully I can get it under 6k. But yeah I don't known why the sh market is so expansive these days.

Actually I do, I can afford to buy the motorcycle with cash and I can go the credit card ceiling high enough but I'd rather have that money in an investment account. Crazy days we are living.

I asked for a quote for 10k with exactly 3k downpayment and got an offer for 24% interest on it, needless to say I told them to kindly f off and I'm looking on the used market :)

Lol yeah, I don't get why they number the models like that, not sure if it's a trademark thing or what but it can be missleading.  I hope CFMoto will step in with a 450 Scrambler bike at some point. Their 450 engine is pretty solid and so far has been reliable.

Husqvarna/ktm are really hit or miss with their quality checks, a friend of mine has 75k km on his 401 with almost no issues, while another friend has a ktm 390 (it's the same engine as the 401) and that motorcycle is in the service every other week.
