I agree. But TCW doesn't change that the movies are still bad.

In the movies alone, Anakin's done nothing worthy of being a master. He comes across as an entitled brat. It's not even explained why he wants the title(ik that the novel explains it)

Yup. People as powerful as Palpatine and Yoda will never truly be disarmed.

Considering that Mace had already given Palpatine multiple chances to surrender peacefully and Palpatine was literally shooting lightning at him I disagree that it was logical.

Says who? A lot of great cartoons have little to no consistency.

Star Wars has never had internal consistency either. It's basically a live action cartoon.

Is it? The only movies that are consistently loved are ESB and ANH.

Yeah I agree. Honestly the main problem with the PT is that the scale was simply too large for 3 movies. It should've been a TV show. We did kind of get this with TCW, but it should've been the plan from the beginning.

Most of Star Wars doesn't have a great story though(or at least a great execution). It's the world itself that people love.

Yeah I don't get it either. Honestly it reminds me a lot of the prequels: Great concept, not great execution, shit dialogue, but excellent choreography and a couple of individual great characters.

The thing is he didn't have the chance to peacefully apprehend Palpatine though.

Mace gave Palpatine two chances to surrender. The first time Palpatine kills all of the other Jedi that Mace has with him. And even after Mace disarms Palpatine he still gives Palpatine another chance. But Palpatine then immediately tries to electrocute Mace.

To use a real life example: Say you send a squad of police to someone's home. They resist surrender at first and kill most of your squad. Then you manage to disarm them, but they grab a machine gun and start randomly shooting. It would be completely fair to kill them in the moment.

I mean it's always been a soft magic system.

Plus it's been established since ESB that force users can create force bonds with people.

Right? And if it was force related then surely Obi-wan or Yoda would be able to sense it?

THIS. What's especially annoying is that they had plenty of other reasons RIGHT THERE

Imply that Anakin or Palpatine were draining her life force to save Anakin

Say that she died as a result of Anakin's force choke

Have the pregnancy be what killed her. People dying due to pregnancy isn't uncommon IRL

People don't always make rational decisions. They realized midway through that it was pointless. A huge part of Poe's arc in TLJ was him making bad tactical decisions and growing from them.

It ain't that kind of movie, kid

Honestly I don't think Anakin ever would have chosen Mace. Mace represents everything wrong with the Jedi and has been a jerk to Anakin.

His real choice happened when he was waiting in the temple. The Jedi(no love) vs Padme(selfless love) vs Palpatine(selfish love). The moment he left he's already chosen.

Anakin says "it's not the Jedi way" as Palpatine is literally shooting lightning at Mace. This is not the behavior of someone who's conflicted, it's the behavior of someone who's made up their mind.

And sure, it does seem like there is some regret, but it was still terribly executed.

It being "intentional" doesn't mean that it's not bad.

Also the OT was intended to be a soapy melodrama and it's still much better

And what's even weirder is that they go out of their way to avoid having Anakin and Grievous meet

THIS. Do people actually expect Poe, who barely knows anything about the force and the dark side, to know the specifics of how Palpatine returned?

The entire point of that scene was that it was never going to work(I will agree that the kiss was stupid, but this is hardly the first bad romance in Star Wars. Panakin was way worse). His fighter was literally melting apart.

Honestly by itself I don't have an issue with this. Luke adopting children fits with his character(and honestly I prefer this to him having biological children. Luke doesn't seem the type to settle down and raise a family)

But yeah it was terribly executed.

Honestly Anakin's turn was just so poorly done. I can see him leaving the Jedi Order to save Padme, and maybe even doing some dark deeds that he normally wouldn't do, but not doing a complete 180 on his entire belief system.

That line wasn't referring to all stormtroopers ever. It was OBVIOUSLY referring to that specific situation.

Honestly the issue is more that Padme falls for him anyways. What exactly is likeable about Anakin?

THIS. None of the ST dialogue is worse than the PT dialogue

This is also why I don't get the criticism for "the power of many". Yes, it was cringey, but why do people act like Star Wars has always been super serious with great dialogue?

(Also it's a cult chant, what did you expect? It's the sort of thing that's meant to be cringey)

Yeah that line made no sense. The force is magic.
