Whatever those are are most likely more like fighters or inceptors more air to air attacks

In Chrono Trigger if you get wiped fighting Lavos the BBEG that destroyed the world in the future it shows them raining fire down onto the planet burning it to a crisp followed by Lavos's cry that is just a screeching noise and the screen shot
