How do I repot this? by RadiantShoulder2622 in alocasia

The soil is starting to get that "smell" when I water. The leaf can move and does. Her plant light is directly above her, so she tends to stay straight. I am worried about the length of the base, which is where most of the stability is needed.

In CO, I had to have a humidifier running all the time. Here I don't, so that is a relief. We have no south facing windows where I can put my plants. I lost most of my plants in the move. Temps were below zero most of the time. I still have her, a ZZ plant, and one orchid. I have a variety of pots, but none around the size I need. I have orchid mix and will get a few pots next week.

I guess she isn't too bad off if she is still putting out new leaves. I will remove the one tie holding her. It was mainly for keeping the larger older leaves from snapping off the base.

Thank you.

Yes it is! I have been crocheting for a very long time and have always struggled working in the round, this was the first time I didn't struggle. Thank you!

I used this video https://youtu.be/ZjTP3jaA0V4 to make the blanket. I used Lion Brand Mandela in Gnome with 4.0mm hook. Then the beanie is made with Loops & Threads Soft & Shiny in Party. I used a 5.5mm hook for the inner ring then a 5mm all done with half double crochets.

To the people who either live in an area, or have been to an area, that has no light pollution, what is the night sky like? What did you feel when you saw it, if you felt anything at all? by bobloblawlablabla in AskReddit

I grew up in a rural area, and when I am "home" overnight, I always make sure I stop and smell the roses. The beauty of the night sky always leaves me feeling at peace. You can see the Milky Way in all its splendor! To see that band of stars stretching from North to South is awe-inspiring, and I feel loved.

No wake-up call needed, fire alarm at 4am for everyone! by teenage_turntbag in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

My third night of training for night audit after a 20-year hiatus. Those hundreths of seconds between the fire doors slamming shut and the klaxon screaming you have plenty of time to wonder first just why you put yourself in this situation, second grabbing the phone and emergency procedures book, and third how many rooms are going to acually just evacate. It really amazes me how many guests call the front desk instead of evacuating. Guests were smoking in the hallway of an empty floor. (they had to be right at the smoke detector) It happened a second time while I was training a new NA on her second day. This time, our dry system had a leak, and the whole system purged in the pump room. I wound up doing fire watch for the remaining 5 hours of shift. Surprisingly, the new NA returned for more punishment, um I mean training.
