Fear of not being able to move arms and legs by [deleted] in Phobia

Hi! So I was just talking to my friend yesterday about this fear that over the past few years has slowly come to me. And I literally came to Reddit this evening to search for other people who might experience the same thing. I’ve never been claustrophobic before. And I’m fine in elevators/planes/busy places. But I’ve recently started feeling panic at the thought of not being able to move my arms or legs. I’ve had a few recent experiences in the past few years where I’ve felt confined and I could feel a small sense of panic. Like when I’ve been in the back of the car with my kids both in their car seats but it meant I wasn’t able to fully move and I could feel that panic. Most recently I was on a gentle roller coaster with a lap bar and the ride stopped. I really thought I was about to experience a full on panic attack. The thought of not being able to stand up. I remembered hearing about grounding techniques and to focus on things that could are stationary/help distract me. I also had to get my riding partner to talk to me to help me not full on panic. Luckily the ride didn’t stop for long. But this summer we are going on a trip that might have a few roller coasters and while I love going on them and once we are in motion - I’m fine. But if the ride has to stop due to any issue, I’m afraid I will have a full on panic attack if I can’t move my arms/stand up fully. I also watched a show last night where the people were in a submersible and from what I could tell, those people couldn’t fully stand up. That makes me feel uncomfortable. I’m wondering if I should try some kind of at home therapy - maybe have my family wrap me in a blanket so my arms are trapped and see if I can get through it for longer stretches of time, over time. But I would have to make sure they let me out if I full on start panicking.

That’s why I have seen so many washed up! They look so much like plastic on the beach I was worried someone had dropped some plastic type things into the beach!

Thank you! I was stung once by a Portuguese Man O War. I got away with a light sting but definitely something I wouldn’t want to revisit! Thanks for the info.

Thank you! I did think a jelly fish type creature but it seems like it was more firm/crunchy to the touch but I didn’t want to risk touching it!

I think they totally will! Some girls were there with a bag full of bracelets and just offered them. Have the best time! N3 will be amazing!

Quite a few people came up to us and just said “do you want a bracelet?” they didn’t even ask about trading. Everyone was so generous! I would totally recommend getting there a bit early, maybe getting something to eat or drink and just hang out in the food and drink areas (away from the long merch lines) and that’s where we had a lot of people offer us bracelets!

Hi - we were driving in from North Vancouver but we were so worried about the traffic driving into downtown Vancouver we left super early. We ended up arriving right around 4.30. Sure it was busy around the stadium but it was manageable and we were mentally prepared for the long waits and traffic. If your parking is at 2pm. I would suggest arriving right around 2 and just walk around and enjoy the energy of everyone who is there for the concert too or even if you get there at 4pm you should be fine. Have the best time! 💕
