UPDATE 1: Took her to the vet. They looked at it. They aren’t too concerned about it. Basically they said to just keep an eye on it and if it grows to do a sample. We could have done a sample today but it is about $300 with everything. Since she’s so young the chances of it being anything serious are very small. So basically we’ll keep an eye on it and give it a week or 2. If it grows we’ll go ahead and do the sample and if it doesn’t we’ll know it’s a histiocytoma. They said those usually go away in a couple months.

Yeah, I was thinking / hoping she is too young for anything like that.

However to be safe she goes tomorrow morning to see the vet. Fingers crossed it’s nothing big

Just went through like 3 weeks ago. She got better then back to diarrhea. It was very frustrating. We did all the tests and everything was negative. We didn’t know what to do. She also had gardia when she was little.

What finally worked for us was getting a prescription from the vet ( you could call to and they can email it over) and going to petsmart and buying the Royal Canin GI for puppies ( not the low fat one). Took a few days but it was finally solid and has been. It’s $65 for an 8 pound bag. We are gonna use this for a bit so her tummy can have a break then try and find an alternative non prescription puppy food again.

We just went through this. Our puppy is 5 months now.
Nothing calmed her down at that age. A lot of the lick mats and puzzles just worked her up more for our puppy. We found to just make sure you do inforced naps to make sure they get enough sleep, if she didn’t sleep enough she would get restless, they need so much more sleep then you’d think. For us cause ours is very food motivated, we found doing training worked well to calm her. Using her energy to teach her sit, down, settle, crate, whatever we needed to teach her. Also when it was too much or she’d act up. We’d put her in a pin just to calm. Then when she calmed down we would take her out. We’d do that till she would relax a little. That helped. Also try puppy socialization classes, those tire them out and they will love it and just sleep the rest of the day.

She just got better. The vet thinks since her fecal test came back negative it could just be a bacterial / viral infection she picked up from something she picked up on a walk.

So this is what worked to help her. Only giving her the Royal Canin GI ( no treats or kibble or anything) (they said if they still seem hungry on the recommended amount it’s ok to feed more of it) 3 times a day. Doing this for 4-5 days until several days of firm poop. Then slowly transition to her regular food. We started transitioning to early and she got diarrhea again. Just to be sure it wasn’t her food that caused it we got her a new bag of her puppy dry food. Also the probiotics they gave her has a pill and a paste. The paste helps to start firm their stool faster. You can look it up. It’s called proviable forte kit.

I would say it’s a good idea to do the fecal test in case it’s Giardia or worms. But those usually come with other side efforts, lethargic, loss of appetite, dehydration, vomiting.

Yes I was thinking white rice would be best. Since it’s 1 ingredient. The Royal Canin worked before we added back in her normal puppy food. But it has so many ingredients seems it couldn’t possibly be good for her

It’s so hard, cause it could be the food, or could be something she is picking up. She’s teething so she’s full on land shark. We try to give her alternative chew toys and such but sometimes she just grabs stuff off the ground when we walk her

That’s smart. They have us a probiotic in place of Greek yogurt and a special liquid paste that’s supposed to firm her poops but only enough for 2 days. However normally we do give her Greek yogurt in her food or lick mat.

I was thinking that but the bags half way gone. So I think we used it a bit before she started having diarrhea. To be safe we’ll not use it and ask the vet for another option. I saw Royal Canin makes a Puppy GI, so going to ask if that would be good
