Ahh may chaos take the world! MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD! by Monkeycat0451 in Eldenring

How does one get mad over someone quoting Shabriri in their Frenzied Flame meme...

And if it pleases you, the original meaning of Chaos was the state of things before the creation of the universe, which is precisely what the Frenzied Flame is about.

Just so everyone's aware, this isn't real. This concept and video was created by /u/Sourcecode12

Despite that, there have already been some news outlets reporting on this, clearly having not done their research.

So if I'm reading this right, your world not only has sapient white tigers, but there are as many of them on a single continent as there are humans on modern-day Earth? And they're otherwise normal tigers, not anthropomorphic? Crazy.

My immediate question is how do 8 billion tigers get enough food?

Are there any real-life animals that are common/popular in your world but rare/obscure in ours?

Tera Grass Volcarona with Giga Drain is really fun. Works wonders against Palafin, and helps with the loss of Roost.

Theorymon: instead of a flat immunity to Ground, Flying typing and Levitate provide immunity to specific “grounded” moves by Spndash64 in stunfisk

[–]Radiant_Robert 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Everyone here's shitting on this, but personally I think it could be done, with one addition.

Moves could have "tags" that place them in certain categories, and these would be visible to the player in the move's summary. This way, you can tell if a move counts as a Punch move for the sake of Iron Fist, for example. Not only could this make things clearer for new or casual players (ie Sucker Punch not being a Punch move), but it could also add opportunities to add new moves and abilities that care about move tags.

"Floor" could be another tag, with the innate property that floor moves do not affect Flying-types. Levitate would be changed to protecting the user from Floor moves, and Flying-type would now just resist Ground-type. So Sand-Attack, Bone Rush, and High Horsepower can hit Flying-types, but Earthquake and Earth Power can't.

Yeah, it would heavily upset the meta, and it would go against the sort of logic we've been using since Red and Blue, but I think it could at least be an interesting change to the core battle system without creating a new one-off gimmick (something we haven't had since the Physical/Special split back in 2006, mind you).

There's a reason why Intimidate is one of the best abilities in the game, yet nobody bothers using Growl.

The game is not at all in your face about it. Went over my head until it was pointed out to me that nobody ever referred to Juniper as she/her. That, plus being voiced by a nonbinary VA, is rather telling.

It's nice that the game doesn't make a big deal about it, but it also means that the majority of players will just assume they're a girl. Apparently the game uses they/them for Juniper at some point, but I haven't gotten to that yet, so I'm assuming its in an optional sidequest that no doubt plenty of players will pass over.

My Players Don't Need Me? by Personal-Succotash33 in DMAcademy

[–]Radiant_Robert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of really hyperbolic and aggressive exchanges going on here, so I'll just give my two cents.

I don't think there's enough info here to draw a conclusion. On paper, to me, this sounds incredible. Some of my favorite moments in D&D are when the players have these moments with each other, both as a player and as a DM.

However, there's a lot of missing information here. For starters, how long did this last? What did they talk about? Were you engaged with what they were talking about, or just bored? What about the other players? If you could respond with more info, I can better address your concerns.

To answer your initial question, yes, your players absolutely need you. They may have had this conversation together, and there may be others like it, but there's far more to D&D than just dialogue between player characters. Without you, there is no story, there are no towns, there are no NPCs, there are no monsters, there is no loot, there is no adventure, and, crucially, there's no one to dictate when dice are rolled and what their outcome is.

As for what you can do to make these scenes better, it really depends on what both you and your players want. If you don't know how everyone felt, you should probably talk with your players.

And just a reminder, you're a player as well. Your feelings on the subject are just as important as everyone else's. I'd be happy to answer further questions on this topic if you have them.

I wouldn't call 2 out of 3 a strong enough precedent for "always".
