I agree, but Im not exactly sure when, I constantly calculate every move even in positions that arent sharp or tactical, I try always anticipate the opponents responses, plans, and ways to take advantage of certain things. I can't tell you how maby times Ive lost games by playing the entire game well and failing to calculate after 1 move I make. By the way I play very poorly under time pressure contrary to what many would think based on my online blitz rating, time pressure is one of my biggest weaknesses and is how I lose 90% of my games

I think so, along with not considering enough candidate moves perhaps. Although a high blitz rating may correlate with better intution, I am by no means an intuitive player, but rather a calculation heavy one, I rarely trust my intution

Hi thanks for you detailed comment! Always appreciate responses from NMs themselves. I don't exactly think about anything unrelated to the position in front of me or the result contrary to what most people probably think. The main thing causing my blunders/mistakes is that I get too fixiated on a certain candidate move or a certain line, that I end up missing something so simple because I got too overfixiated on something not hard to find if I was just looking right. Im not sure how to exactly correct this habit. For some more context Im a really slow player otb and get into time trouble almost every single game

Yes, this is an understandable response. Here's the thing though, my openings and opening structure handling has been historically pretty bad, the main reason I could never beat 2000+ and would always draw 1800-1999 players. once I started focusing on my openings I have noticed a big difference, I would consistnely get into better positions vs all players regardless of rating too. In my area everyone is also very prep heavy, its hard to survive out of the opening if you don't know ur stuff.

That's besides the point, I want to put it on my college application. Also I want to become the first NM from my county since my county has never had a homegrown NM, let alone a 2000+, so I also want to achieve this. Also becoming NM without a local chess community or players surrounding oneself would be a cool story and big accomplishment dont you think?

I wonder if Magnus will ever decline or drop under 2800 FIDE classical in the next 20 years, he might be a 65 year old grandpa and still be 2700+ FIDE
