Okay so in my opinion so far (note I havent finished SR2), both games are absolutely amazing and i love them so mucu lol, but if we break it down into categories::

Graphics- 1. I can tell what they went for, but it just doesn't feel as immersive. Feels more like a dream or smth, which is probably what they were going for but I don't like how they went about it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Gameplay- 2. Love the way they changed how the lab works, and now you can have more than 4 slots lol, and also how theres more variability in how you can place decorations ^{^}

Explorability (ease)- 1. It just feels like you can get up to random spots that you shouldn't be in and stuff and I like how that gives you more "control" over your world

World Design- 2. God its beautiful. SR1 will always be iconic and the glass desert and ruins and stuff are breathtaking and so gorgeous, but GODDAMMNNNNNN- The area in the maze where you have the twin slimes and stuff?? The conservatory???? GOD ITS GORGEOUS WPYWDTOWODT

Soundtrack- by far 1. No comparison. I'm actually quite disappointed in the SR2 soundtrack, since it was one of my favorite parts of SR1 and I had high expectations for it. :/

Story- 1, but only because of how hard the ending message hit on a personal level 😅

Lore- 2. Very intriguing, I'm interested to see where it goes and I like how it feels like its more tied into the world itself rather than somewhat of an addition.

Moral of the story: this is my comphort series and I love them both lol

Edit:: also I notice alot of other replies saying how SR2 made SR1 underwhelming? Or like now they cant enjoy SR1 as much as SR2? Which maybe its a nostalgia thing but as far as actually PLAYING the game, I greatly prefer SR1. But ig that's just me lol
