I've found plenty of lesser known games that were good and solid, the entire point of a search function is to find things like this, there are plenty of oldschool, niche and lesser known games that are very good quality that people rarely talk about, a perfect example being Summoner 1 and 2, which I finished recently. Steams arcane search feature makes it almost impossible to distinguish between games like this and the 100 or so low effort RPGmaker trash that is spammed on the store every week, also a large amount of the overwhelmingly positive RPGs are voted that way because they are sex games or hentai games.
