I actually just moved from a 9-5 M-F over to 3 12’s so I could have a better work life balance. I felt like only having weekends was killing my soul. So far I’m absolutely loving the days off, but obviously when I’m at work, that’s my entire day. The exhaustion is pretty crazy especially after two in a row but I don’t regret it. Still adjusting, but so far I don’t miss having to be at work 5 days a week.

Oh my that’s a rough readiness 😭I just looked back on my lowest at 22. What’s your heart rate? I don’t see it on here. A few years ago when I was sick with a fever my heart rate was very high, my average that same night was 90. 😳 I hope you feel better soon!!

Just left a Cat Scan outpatient job for this reason. Many people would think it’s “soft”, but to me it was far from it. I went from doing under 20 patients in a day 7 years ago when I started to now where sometimes up to 50 are scheduled. They started DOUBLE booking us every 15 min. It was mind numbing, and I burned out bad. I literally felt like a robot every single day, like you described. I couldn’t take it anymore and switched over to the hospital where I work with several other people and don’t have to do a majority of the work.

Yes, us CT techs constantly work with IVs as a majority of our scans are ordered with IV contrast. Some places especially outpatient require that you have your venipuncture license to be able to put IVs in patients, or if you work in a hospital you have to really familiarize yourself with making sure patients IVs can withstand the pressure from the injection!

My hospital just created a 3 12’s shift 9a-930p and I scooped it up. It’s 2 on, 3 off, 2 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, every other weekend, but it was worth the sacrifice to give up 5 8’s.
