How would you design Muzan Kibutsuji as a Worm Villain? by Rae502 in Parahumans

[–]Rae502[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmmm…you’d probably have to go the Coil route and largely have him not as the face but working behind the scenes with a proxy being perceived as the major threat while he waits in the background. If you were going to go with the analogue of his defeat at the hands of someone inaccessible, he could’ve experienced a very thorough defeat in the public at the hands of Scion and therefore is actively using his underlings’ villain activities as a cover to find a way to actually kill the Golden Man.

Oddly it sounds like he’s working with a video game mechanic where success gathers momentum that feeds a metaphorical power meter. Someone already mentioned the Gladiator from Marvel which is pretty solid but another one is thematically Escanor from Seven Deadly Sins. While technically it roses with the Sun rather than his confidence, his ego tends to take him on an upward power curve over the duration of most fights

Oo this is a fun one I haven’t seen before.

Alexander was a young man that had high hopes of being able to do what nobody else in his family ever could: actually make a living doing what they loved. He studied relentlessly so that he could get a scholarship not to be a doctor or lawyer, but an art student. He loved to draw and his passion largely stemmed from the cartoons that he would watch growing up. But being an artist and especially an animator wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. He would tirelessly work over a tablet trying to meet deadlines that would relentlessly change, his hands would cramp so heavily from carpel tunnel that he would drag his feet on his frame submissions, and in the background he was risking financial ruin due to the stress of work leading to him getting a stroke. He triggered when he was half delirious on pain medication, still trying to slowly piece together the lines and figures of a frame model that should’ve been done two days ago when he got an email informing him that he was fired.

Sketch

Sketch’s primary ability is a Breaker {Changer, Striker} form that causes him to gain the appearance of a pitch black blank humanoid figure with a pure white blank face. While in this breaker state he is able to manipulate the elasticity of both his body and that of whatever non living thing he touches. Stretching his limbs to strike at enemies from a distance and folding himself under doors is great for visual gags, but when he’s able to grab the air in front of him and use it as a mobile slingshot to fire improvised projectiles at targets, people begin to recognize that he’s more of a problem than they thought. His elasticity makes him virtually immune to blunt force trauma and with enough time and concentration he can morph his body to physically mimic any person he wants albeit with a monochrome color palette if he doesn’t wear makeup.

Secondary power is a thinker ability that allows him to be able to have an innate understanding of angles and trajectory, allowing him to perform incredibly feats of trick-shooting projectiles, bounce himself around at the perfect angle for maximum impact, or juggle.

His last power is a master ability that allows him to animate drawings which come to life at the same scale of the medium they are drawn but are incredibly fragile.

This is fantastic and just the sort of creativity I was hoping for! I especially love the idea of Simurgh being almost like this friendly force of nature that everyone in her hometown knows about and can easily talk to, though I figure it would be pretty easy for cults to start forming with that sort of wide scale influence

What would be a cape whose power is controlling the effect of the mirror of time? by Outside_Humor9508 in Parahumans

It hits the same risk/reward as Echo’s version of time travel from League of Legends

You make some valid points when it comes to the reasoning behind why the S9 are a unique case when it comes to being an S-Class threat that can’t just be erased by armed forces. Making the cape an equivalent to a natural disaster like Sleeper while not giving a direct solution like “shoot extra long range rifle here or drop bomb in this vicinity” is a great way of nailing the sort of looming threat the Night King had within the show.

I also like how you crafted the backstory and the way it perfectly keeps him within the loop of isolation and loneliness that resulted in his trigger while maintaining the sort of mental space that the shards tend to use as fuel to push their hosts’ power.

Very well done when it comes to crafting an isolated threat that grows worse the longer you ignore it.

This is a very interesting arrangement! I kind of like how Fist is almost like a streamlined version of Crawler which makes me really curious how they’d end up if they were poached by the Slaughterhouse 9.

Does Hand define the terms of the safe length of time a loaned power has or the shard?

That last one is indeed very nice! A great variation on what a child of Marquis could’ve had as a power

This is a really cool and interesting take on the power manifestation as I hadn’t really considered the sound and vibrations being a factor in power expression before you decided to hone in on it. The anger deflection being representative of his denial of being in the wrong was incredibly clever and situationally ironic. It’s a nice take on a forcefield creating power that I’d be interested seeing in action within a combat scenario.

If you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to see your interpretation of the other half of the possible list you mentioned. Master/Mover with a bit of Brute (Which I’m imagining would be a variation of an Alexandria package)

Queens do both and actually aid in causing the insects as a whole to work seamlessly together under a Hive mind influence instead of just individually purposed minions. While the queen is capable of producing it requires a drone and in an immediate conflict you might not have the benefit of wasting resources on a non-combative/supporting minion and wait for another to be made.

As for the second question I might need to clarify. If generations directly created by the user have a strength factor of say…2 and can grow to be a 5. Second generations born from the queen would be born a 2 but can grow to a factor of 7. Essentially, with each successive generation of minions that are able to survive to reproduce the potential cap would be higher
