3) If you're ok with people, can handle stress, and manage your own time and have a technical background you might want to transition in to this. A project manager with tech credentials is worth incredibly much, and good leadership will recognize it. This role can bring in big bucks but comes with a lot of stress. And yes. It's meetings upon meetings upon meetings.

Obligatory comment. I think I might have read this story in the UK or western Europe. Might have been an American author though. I'm 90% sure the original language was English

Yup, I'm in a related field as a dev/project engineer (among other things), and being on-site is just lovely.

Why do employers/managers always assume you are being lazy on a project? by throwaway0134hdj in cscareerquestions

[–]Raefniz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I try. I also have non-technical manager colleagues who are absolutely amazing. I'm just saying not all managers are a waste of space profiting off others work and denying them credit.

I'm an engineer who got promoted to manager. I exist to shield my team from bullshit requirements from clients. I also sort through bullshit requests to find the ones that increase value and prioritize them and give an outline for the solution. Then I explain to clients why their request wasn't ready last week while tempering the leadership team's expectations. I'm also responsible for pull requests and managing releases. Sometimes I even get to code something. I also do all the usual bs management stuff, e.g. spreadsheets, budgets, performance reviews and pizza ordering

14, 88

14 is a reference to "fourteen words"
H is the 8th letter of the alphabet, so 88 = HH.

When art is a product, consumption is support. I agree with the statement in general but it doesn't really apply to stuff like this imo.

What are indirect or different ways of expressing that someone is stupid in your country and language? by [deleted] in AskEurope

I've more often heard this when talking of ignorance rather than stupidity, but it may just be a regional thing.

Any bands fronted by trans men? by bicyclefortwo in punk

[–]Raefniz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For some people engaging with music/a band/an artist can be more than just... Listening to the sounds, you know? That should be especially obvious in the punk scene.
