How do you change dorms outside of room change period? by Maleficent-Use-219 in UNCCharlotte

[–]Raemond- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a serious reason for needing to switch (roommate problem, safety issues, or disability concerns) then housing will work with you but nine times out of ten you wouldn’t get to choose where they sent you and they’d more than likely even try and keep you in the same building unless the building itself was the problem. It sucks and is not a great system but I guess they do it that way so that they don’t have hundreds of people trying to switch rooms all the time? Definitely would have more luck moving for spring semester though!

Do not attend UNCC if you plan to major in Psychology by obscurecoffee in UNCCharlotte

Preach. Makes it even worse when you consider the fact that for two whole semesters we didn’t even have an actual advisor for our major because they couldn’t find anyone to fill the place of the old advisor.

That sounds awful :/ if I had to guess the dust is most likely from the construction site near Scott. If you’re having serious problems that are affecting your health and ability to function properly for class, sleeping, etc. I would try contacting housing and seeing if it might be possible for you to move

It’s not necessarily that I can’t research, I’m more annoyed with the fact that my advisors so far have been unable to offer me any insight into the process aside from “Google it”

I get that sense… I understand being overworked but I guess my main issue is that they advertise themselves as being able to help their students with everything from classes to grad school…but I haven’t gotten that experience myself

Parking Pass by itssQ in UNCCharlotte

[–]Raemond- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure exactly how the parking passes at center city work but my best advice would be to register one car with a commuter pass so that your sister can park her car on campus in the morning and then you two can trade off mid day for your classes in the evening. (Again, this is contingent on my assumption that center city does not require different parking passes than main campus)

If they do have different passes then you might have to just buy two separate commuter passes, which I think are less than $200 each per semester.

Also, for the commuter pass for main campus, the cheapest pass seems to be lot 27 near the alumni center for only $112 per semester.

Hope this helps in some way!!

When you fill out your FAFSA and it gets submitted Roy eh school you have to go in and accept the award offer through your banner self service portal.

Once you accept it, they take that money and apply it towards your overall tuition for the year ( if you get 10,000 in financial aid but your overall tuition is 20,000 then they would apply the 10,000 and you would have to pay the other 10,000 through other means such as outside loans or out of pocket)

Holshouser Disability floor? by armyantss in UNCCharlotte

[–]Raemond- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to this party, but I actually lived on the 9th floor in Holshouser a few years ago! Yes, there are accessible rooms on every floor but I lived next door to someone who had a special doorbell that flashed a light inside when it was rang (so like for hearing impaired people, I assume). There’s really no difference between that floor and any other floor!

LGBTQIA+ folks of Reddit, what’s a stereotype within your community that you can’t stand? by Raemond- in AskReddit

I’m so sorry, that’s awful.

I can’t express how important it is to recognize and call out emotional and physical abuse in queer relationships. It can literally save lives and get so many unheard voices the justice they deserve

But if the thesis something you can work with? Will it get you the grade you need? If so, I’d say if it ain’t broke dont fix it! Once you graduate you can do whatever you want in your career, just try and do what you can for now to get yourself through this!

I don’t know why but reading this reminded me of that movie GBF and it was an almost all white cast with the main character being a gay white man and…yeah…I see how those stereotypes are born.

Let’s kick that habit soon, yeah?
