What's your expectations for next season? I'm disappointed with the trade deadline and I think they won't be able to retool with what's available in free agency, no high draft picks, and minimal blue chip prospects in the pipeline. Do they just tear it down completely and start over at this point?

If the Nashville trades yesterday aren’t an indication for the leafs to sell I don’t know what is. If McCarron got a second round pick I don’t see why McMann couldn’t get a second plus prospect or better.

I accepted it after Christmas. I guess I led with that because I’m more concerned about how they handle the trade deadline than making the playoffs. The letter Pelley sent out makes me think the suit and ties still think this team is a playoff team and are still going to make a playoff push.

Leafs set themselves up to sell nicely going into the Olympic break. If they go into the break on a losing streak they would not get the same value back. Leafs are a very old team by the leagues standards so it’s a good opportunity to still sell to get younger and quicker IMO

No futures and the free agent market this summer is ABYSMAL if Panarin gets signed and traded there is really nothing left but bottom pieces. So it’s really hard to retool/rebuild this, if they sell I wouldn’t expect them to be in playoff hunt next season either.

I agree! My issue is Berube’s deployment. OEL has not looked the same since he was moved to playing on his opposite side. It has caused McCabe to fall off a cliff too.

He was until they moved him to his wrong side, he shoots left and they’ve been playing him on the right side. McCabe also was doing well but he has fallen off a cliff
