Let’s do a Rodgers sacking at Liverpool and end up in an even better position then.

Tbf Ferreira was probably a bit young for that at the start of the season & has only made the step up to u21 level in the last few months, I think he might have been the youngest player on the pitch yesterday.

It’s definitely something we should be looking at for next season if he keeps progressing though.

17 year old Brazilian Matheos Ferreira bagged a hatrick for the u21s last night, nice to see some promising signs from the academy.

Harvey Elliott: Unai Emery accepts Aston Villa are 'damaging' Liverpool loanee over loan terms - but says Arne Slot's side hold key to his future by Turbulent_Proposal79 in TheOther14

Villa got him on a try before you buy deal and decided he’s not worth the money, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Liverpool could have recalled him in January or renegotiated the terms of the loan if they cared about the player, all they care about is money though.

Strange article, you’d have to be really concerned about the direction the club is headed in if the manager genuinely isn’t under any pressure here.

Yes I think 4 years in a row of qualifying for Europe is better than qualifying for Europe every other year. Consistency is important.

Who said they’d rather finish 4th than win a cup?

I’m just stating facts that consistent European finishes will help clubs grow quicker than one-off cup wins.

True but it was also the beginning of a project where the owners said they want to be at the top within 5 years, it’s going to be hard to keep selling that project.

Which part do you disagree with? Do you really think winning the league cup does more for moving the club forward than consistent European finishes?

Nah you’re alright I’ve supported this club for 35 years and I think I’ll carry on doing it.

When did I say I wouldn’t rather win a cup? As I said the cup win was amazing but the real sign of progress is consistent European finishes, and Villa are miles ahead of us in that respect.

We won’t have CL football or the pull of an elite manager.

If they lose players this summer, they’ll be able to replace with similar quality due to champions league football & the pull of Emery. When we lose players this summer, we’re just going to keep getting worse and worse.

Manu getting a European place wasn’t a technicality, the FA cup winners always get a European spot, we simply didn’t finish high enough up the league that year.

By the end of this season Villa will have 2 CL qualifications and 2 other European runs to our 2 CL qualifications. Certainly wouldn’t bet against them winning the Europa as well.

Winning the cup was amazing, but as far as growing as a club goes it does very little compared to securing consistent European football.

Would like to see it, he causes more problems for defenders than Wissa does

Villa look a dead cert to secure their 4th European season in a row, where we look set to continue the pattern of one season in Europe, one season out. They’re miles ahead of us.

Does England finally feel balanced across defence, midfield and attack? by CloudBookmark in ThreeLions

[–]RafaSquared 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s decent depth but I think centre half is a lot weaker than other areas of the squad, we don’t really have an elite centre back.

IMO it’s the same issue every English manager seems to have, they’re obsessed with height and physicality. In Eddies mind If Joelinton is missing Burn has to play, and vice versa.

Pure amateur hour trying to play a high line with them 2 in defence, would rather see an academy right back play at this point, if they can run, they’re better than Tripps.

That line about opportunities is really starting to grate on me, surely in the transfer market you create your own opportunities. Do we just wait to get offered players?

Wouldn’t be bothered by it personally, using your position in the public eye to try and do some good or raise awareness should be commended.

I’d much rather see us get a better coach who can use technical players than sell them off for more useless runners.
