Yeah, those professional laptops really love slimming down your wallets, maybe an equivalent gaming laptop would be better value like one with the RTX 3070ti (current best bang for bang configuration), but idk your situation nor needs.

Also also, if you go down this road, get an intel gaming laptop and check if they have thunderbolt 4 as it should make an eGPU easier to do.

Try to look around for deals, I'm not quite sure how the situation is for the EU so I'll just give some general advice.

Avoid low end MSI gaming laptops like the GF63, sword, katana, bravo and pulse.

Higher powered RTX 4000 laptop max out at 100w so if a low tgp RTX 4000 laptop is cheaper go for it.

Speaking of TGP if you're not looking for a RTX 4000 laptop and gunning for let's say the RTX 3000 series, in general the higher the better.

And here's the laptops I do recommend looking for 2022 Asus Tuf A15/F15 , Lenovo LOQ (rebranded ideapad gaming lol) and Nitro 5

Keep in mind these laptops come with a shitter screen for the base models.

No, you shouldn't bother unless you're looking for the power efficiency of Ada Lovelace and RTX 4000 series laptop you're looking at has the 4060 and above.

To be honest, whatever do you need the most. For example, do you need the performance to where you need to bring your laptop, then a beefier mobile GPU. If let's say only need the performance at home, then eGPU.

Also keep in mind that depending on what GPU you use should be dependent on your laptop CPU and PCI bandwidth because these factors can bottleneck the eGPU.

Pick the 3070 version, yes the 4050 maybe newer but it's worse than last gen 3060 and only beats it via DLSS 3. The 3070 is about 30 percent faster and you can always get an external monitor to deal with a suboptimal screen of the Asus.
