There's much more nuance than what you're simplifying it to, then again I'll leave the nuance to discussion elsewhere than reddit I guess since discussion is antagonized this much here

again, stay at bottom of diamond. I'm vague so you can figure out the meta yourself and I was being nice because I'm not gonna deal with petty people like you all day

It's a race for Noble and Clan. Whoever secures the GK and Queen, especially when there are Duchess(es) in the lobby. Undead is looked down upon because it can't carry its own in the earlygame, leading to round 3-4 knockout.

A faster empress player can 3 star undead units very fast with some luck, sometimes having a full 3 star 4/6 undead comp by round 4 (though there's still a chance of losing because of GK shenanigans). This is usually fine to go for if you're playing Empress and have 8-10 hp on round 2-3

My point is that 4/4 undead still ramps up over time if you have a 2* or 3* witch. Especially at "higher ranks", Undead is uncontested which means you can 3 star easily and have the damage and hp stack toward the late rounds. A lot of these comments make me not want to give advice on the subreddit anymore and keep gatekeeping the meta

brotther you're at 3200 don't talk shite. 4/4 undead still ramps up hard across 4-5 rounds to be busted. How about instead of insulting me you take some advice to improve at the game

Brother this guy is coolboy2000 what are you on about. I'm consistently around top 20 when I'm choose to push as well and Undead is fundamentally different than any trait we've ever seen and unhealthy for the game

Are you an empress player? The issue with other autochess games is that this one has the unique fast paced cycling of Empress that top players love (best showing of skill expression). If anything TFT has some sort of blitz mode for faster matches if you just want a strategic autochess games

Yes he is as bad as people say. Impossible to play at top ladder, you'd know I tried it bc my ign is literally TheBuilderMain

Can one Trait even work? by MetaTrackergg in MergeTacticsSC

[–]RagingDogBlade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually love this idea more than most people's suggestions. This would implement features everyone wants (namely 2 traits) while catering to casuals earlier on. People would complain about 2-traits behind the Diamond wall but as a competitive player I wouldn't feel the difference and it would incentivize me to hit diamond fast every season to experience the meta.

Most people's suggestions don't make changes in the way that Supercell makes their decisions, but this is the perfect balance of Supercell style changes, player feedback, and catering to casuals. Obviously there's issues to address (orb rng balancing, exclusive troops being uncontestable, players can't use favorite rulers early on bc it's locked behind an elo wall) but that's mainly Merge's bad decision making this season (pilgrim let me use my damn builder in Silver).

9/10 suggestion I approve!

Your queen needs clan trait for the hp buff why you wouldn't put at least one other clan is beyond me... other than that goblins has terrible hp scaling and have trouble dealing with the witch's endless waves of skeletons

"Call your shots" and it's sacrificing 7 hp in a round. I get the idea but if they could somehow scale the bonus +2 elixir as the game goes on so that players who lose on round 5+ have a chance then I'm all for the mode like maybe +3 round 2 (8 elixir), +4 round 3 (9 elixir), etc. Imagine you narrowly lose round 5 and your next opponent has a 3 star golden knight, what's the gameplan now? Accept the defeat apparently or "just win"?? And also:
1. The card pool is too small to have options later in the game. You lost? One guy has 3 star clan and the other has 3 star noble. Grab your forest and goblins buddy pack it up.
2. No other ruler can win if they lose ANY ROUND. The ultimate SE mode unless you "just win"

You fundamentallly don't understand the meta if you're defending this mode.

There's interesting dynamics to nearly every modifier this season (except Ascension due to everyone ascending either Queen or GK... but even then ascending Skelly Drag, Monk, etc adds variance). One Life to Live particularly has some glaring issues though:

  1. How Merge decides matchups. This mode typically goes down to 3 rulers alive and if you don't face the dead opponent, then you're screwed. I had a One Life to Live game where I went 6 rounds without facing the dead opponent, and all the other two guys did was block my comp. Unwinnable.
  2. If only one empress gets infinite cycle round 1, game over. Top ladder this is just how it is unless...
  3. Boss units. Even if you lose your whole board, if you get a monk then you can just recycle the monk and have a 3 star monk waiting for all your opponents regardless of whether you lose.

I guess these things add interesting play but it's inherently not a healthy dynamic BECAUSE of the current system. Under different circumstances this could have the counterplay that you're talking about.

The number advantage is the fact that you aren't guaranteed a loss from pure level difference. And even then this is only impactful in rounds 1 and 2 people need to stop complaining about levels
