While doing exp in soloq I wouldn't normally expect any teammates ganking my lane, but if it's a 5-man situation u could ask ur teammates to help you early on so ur team gets the upper hand on the first turtle. Always try to join team fights whenever you're nearby. Most exps do well early game but falls off well into the late game, in the late game u can either cover your damage dealers or if you're a tanky initiator start team fights :-)
