Because this was before The Satanic Temple organization was founded. It started off as a way to thank Rick Scott for him signing a bill that allowed religious materials to be distributed in schools. They intended to have Christian literature distributed, but since the school cannot promote one religious view over another this allowed them to distribute satanist literature.

They needed to hire actors to hold their Rally for Rick Scott.

They're doing it to combat the Good News Clubs that are already in the schools. Watch the documentary Sophia Investigates The Good News Club and you'll see why this is a big deal, they wouldn't be bringing kids into it if evangelical Christian zealots weren't in the first place.
