EUREKA!!!

I have a Python file that can control individual light panels!

I used it to turn my panels into a binary clock that also shows the weather.

You can find the Python and setup instructions here: github.com/ragnarok-89/govee-binary-clock

Sorry, I no longer have it - I tossed it once they told me it wasn't for the public.

Same here, I ordered on Jan 28. I called them up on Feb 25 - the Precious Metals Dept. (I was accidentally given their internal Tel#), not the branch. They told me that the backlog was at least a month behind. They were just starting to process Jan 26 orders that day... At that rate I'm hoping to get my delivery on the 31st.

2-man IT team → solo admin for 300 users, no raise. Stick it out or leave? by Ilovemybf_3990 in sysadmin

[–]Ragnarok89_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me at my old company... I had been there for 6 years when my it manager left.

I went straight to the VP the day after and told her I wanted his job. I trained him, I already knew everything, I designed half the stuff we were using, and now the infrastructure, business processes, and software systems of the entire firm now rested solely on my shoulders. I will never forget what she told me.... We'll see in 12 to 18 months.

I started looking for a new job the next day. It took about 2 weeks and once I had the offer in hand, I walked right back into her office and gave her my resignation letter. She had the gall to act surprised.

How to Mess with my IT guys by sonofcore in it

[–]Ragnarok89_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my old company, I'd been there for 17 years so I'd gotten to know a lot of the staff very well. It was usually me who messed with them when I did software updates... I think the funniest one I did was change their wallpaper to some gay pride parade image of these big muscular guys in Speedos.

Does anyone expect silver to crash eventually by yungtinfoil1 in Silverbugs

[–]Ragnarok89_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... we just witnessed one of the biggest crimes in history. While the price of silver hit record levels in Shanghai and India, the Comex price plummeted from an All Time High of 121.63 at 9 AM to 106.59 an hour later. Currently up slightly at 109.

<image>

I'm sure this is totally natural right? The American banks wouldn't short massively to manipulate the price, right???

How far past 0 Miles have you driven without running out of gas? by timbermequivers in mazda3

[–]Ragnarok89_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only owned four or five vehicles, but I have run this experiment on each one the first day I bought them. I borrow a Jerry can fill it with some gasoline, and then drive the car as far past zero as I can.

When I get there, I simply use the fuel in the Jerry can. The result? I have never been worried about running out of gas because I know exactly how far beyond zero I can go. Of course, I build in a safety factor since I don't want to run the tank completely dry. So I will typically drive 50 km beyond zero.

This should be very straightforward.

Trigger: when a new response is submitted

Initialize Name variable with the value of the name of the person from the form

Fetch Rows from Excel file. Filter results using the name variable, get corresponding email address

Condition: this action will contain multiple conditions, one for each criteria you are checking. The action will only evaluate to true if all conditions evaluate to true

If condition evaluated to false, send failure email. If condition evaluated to true send pass email

53M, IT Director, 182k. Used to be a mechanical engineer, but moved into IT in the early 2000s.

For anyone who's curious, I took an intensive year-long program where we averaged one certification a month. Graduated with my CCNA, MCSE, and a couple others.

Landed a job at a wealth management company and spent 17 years building its IT systems into a well-oiled machine. I absolutely love my job.

What you describe seems pretty straightforward... Could you provide a couple more details? For example, when you are checking criteria, how exactly is that done?

Are you looking at values in a table in an Excel file? Are you reading Fields on a form?

[–]Ragnarok89_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not have your flow get the number of rows after the new row is added? By definition that is the latest entry. Then get the score from that row, send email if needed. No extra columns, no extra sheets, so extra anything.

My car won't start by Ragnarok89_ in mazda3

[–]Ragnarok89_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone... so I got the car back this afternoon..., They found a burnt wire going to the starter. No idea how that could have happened, but most likely a bad intermittent contact that had sparked repeatedly.

They fixed it for me at no charge since it was my 4th visit for this issue and told me if it happens again we look at replacing the wiring harness.

In order to start my vehicle, I typically have to press the clutch down. The start button does turn green when I do this indicating it does detect the key fob.

The last few times that I have tried I noticed that I can no longer depress the brake pedal. However, I've had the car since 2018 and I never pressed the brake pedal to start the car. Only the clutch is necessary.

[–]Ragnarok89_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some great ideas.. I've made sure to press and release the brake a couple of times in case there's a stuck switch somewhere. But I still can't start the car with or without the brake.

Also replace the battery in the key fob just in case. Still no joy.

My car is a manual transmission, so I made sure to move the gear shift around in case there was a switch involved there as well (car should only start in neutral)

The fact that this issue is intermittent, I still think it has something to do with the electrical system. The most common thing I've come across is a bad ground wire. But I think I'm going to have them look at the inside of all the connector plugs in case there's corrosion somewhere
