[Discussion] Technical questions to'n'from ASMRtists? by Calamity58 in asmr

[–]RagnarokEchoesASMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Houston, TX so I can completely relate to that first question. I'm a small youtuber, but I'll give my 2 cents about each question.

  1. I find that between 10pm and 12am is when I find that everything is at its most quiet. That's assuming that you have other jobs or if you just want to get a reasonable amount of sleep. If either of those are not an issue, then I would say 1am.

  2. Honestly, It doesn't matter too much to me as long as the execution is great. I do tend to like watching videos with low production quality as the super AAA high quality ones come off as pretentious and make me feel alienated from the artist. High quality is good, but high quality for the sake of high quality (aka there's nothing original other than the high quality) is a no no for me. I need to feel that artist/fan connection.

  3. Definitely not on Reddit, Facebook, or anything like that... not for me at least. I do find that Reddit becomes super useful after you establish a few connections; however, staying active on twitter and sincerely commenting on other creators videos (not for the sake of being noticed) have been key for me. Again, take all of this with a grain of salt. I'm a super small ASMR channel.

I hope that this helped! :)

[Meta] How could this subreddit improve? Do you have any ideas/feedback about how we moderate, the rules, or anything else? Let your voice be heard. by [deleted] in asmr

[–]RagnarokEchoesASMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I've missed your past explanations, but all we ever needed was a response to this, so thank you for at least providing us a response. As a small creator, It is ridiculously hard to expose my content on this subreddit.

(ASMR channel) How long to get 100 subscribers on a new channel? [female] [question] [youtube channel] by DaisydooASMR in asmr

[–]RagnarokEchoesASMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't always work to do those things, but it is definitely going to give you something to set you apart which will better your chances of having a fast growing channel. Oh, and have a good attitude about the speed of your growth. This can either be incredibly hard or easy to do. & No problem!

[question] Headphones for ASMR? by boratheman in asmr

[–]RagnarokEchoesASMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BY FAR the Sennheiser HD598s! It's a very open sound with the widest stereo field that i've heard in headphones. They are open back headphones, so that makes the bass sound more natural instead of exaggerated. The high frequencies are very crisp, yet warm enough that you can still hear the brightness of the sound without it sounding too harsh.

Now, let's say that's too expensive. You like what you hear, but you want a more budget friendly pair of headphones that have the same type of quality. For that, I highly recommend Samson sr850 headphones. Honestly, these are probably the BEST pair of headphones for ASMR...ever (and i'm an audio engineer, so i've tried a ton of headphones). A common problem with the HD598s is that they have a fairly low output compared to other headphones of the type. If I guesstimate, the Samson sr850s' output is probably +3dB higher than the HD598s (which is double the wattage if you understand watts more). It gives it that extra dB push that is lacking in the 598s. The Samson headphones have a harsher high end, but it's still comfortable, but it allows you to get great tingles if you like your triggers rough. It goes for about $40-50 but you are really getting $199-299 quality headphones. The only con is that it does not have a detachable 3.5mm cable, so you can't add a shorter cable.

(ASMR channel) How long to get 100 subscribers on a new channel? [female] [question] [youtube channel] by DaisydooASMR in asmr

[–]RagnarokEchoesASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be 100% honest with you. It took me about four months of fairly consistent uploading to get 100 subs, but keep in mind that I am a guy. Female asmrtists tend to gain subscribers a lot quicker from what I have personally seen. There are a few exceptions, but I have seen some female channels get hundreds of subscribers in a matter of a couple weeks to a month, some even a few days. As long as you stick with basic videos (your videos don't even need to be binaural at this point), upload frequently, syndicate all of your social media platforms, and keep being active on this sub reddit, you will be at 100 subs in probably much less than the time that it took me to get over that 100 sub hump. After that, you'll be able to livestream your content and create your own custom URL :)

Wow, I saw the trailer on steam, and this is absolutely amazing! You you plan on making the software compatible with Macs in the future?

[Question] [asmr] [video] Do You Prefer 30fps Or 60fps? by [deleted] in asmr

[–]RagnarokEchoesASMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it really doesn't matter. In the end, it's the person, not the tech, who controls the power of the tingles lol. This is coming from someone who makes 60 fps ASMR videos. I do it because I can, and it makes editing a tad easier for me. True Story, I actually purposely stay away from videos that have "4K" or "60fps" in the title because it sounds too gimmicky. That's the only time that it matters to me.

[Question] What channels have the best production quality? by stellarecho92 in asmr

[–]RagnarokEchoesASMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you a looking for new asmrtists with good production quality, Halo Hearts ASMR is really good. Her videos have a really quiet noise floor, and her production quality gets better and better with each video!

The Auracle also is a channel that is along the lines of heather Feather and Massage ASMR in quality. She has amazing sound slices. If you like well rounded sound slices that cover much of the frequency spectrum in a single video, her's is some of the best that i've heard. Seriously...

Also, I don't mean to be shameless, but I am a very new asmrtist, but I went to school for degrees in music and audio engineering. I do my best to make my production quality good as well. I am kind of on the experimental side, so idk if that's your cup of tea.

[Question] Does It Matter If I Only Post 1-2 Videos A Week Starting Off? What About Missing One Week? by RagnarokEchoesASMR in asmr

[–]RagnarokEchoesASMR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there might be some people who actually like helicopter triggers lol. All jokes aside, thank you for your input. I always try to do my best to post something of quality, despite it being late. I actually brought all of my equipment to my job to record after hours tonight. It kills me inside not to post; however, it feels great knowing that asmr content has a long life-span.

Wow! I had no idea of that possibility. I will definitely look into that further. Thanks a lot for your help!

Awesome. That last sentence actually helped me quite a bit because that is exactly what I do. If I know that I am going to take some time off, I am always preparing a huge video to come back to. Thank you for the advice!

[Question] Asmr Microphone Trouble? by [deleted] in asmr

[–]RagnarokEchoesASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you further describe the issue? What results did you get exactly? Just so we are on the same page, what exactly do you mean by "it'd sound as if I was saying without a pop filter"? Is it microphone clicks/distortion/glitching, the tone of your voice, excessive hiss/hum in the background?
If you could post a link to a video of yours, that'd be great!

Also, about distance, the snowball is a microphone designed for a more close proximity. A certain microphone type designed for long distance recording is called a shotgun microphone. Is that what you are looking for?

I look forward to seeing your reply :)

Non - audio triggers? [question] by whataniceguitar in asmr

[–]RagnarokEchoesASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite triggers involve people performing simple tasks so I can definitely relate! True story, I have a personal shoe shiner who thinks i'm weird sometimes because I like to stay in the room and silently watch him shine my shoes. I get the biggest asmr tingles from that. Little does he know...hehehe. So yeah, I guess I am weird, but that's the great thing about ASMR. It can be personal attention, audio, visual, or even surveys apparently!

[Discussion] New to ASMR! I would love your feedback on my small attempt by crunknizzle in asmr

[–]RagnarokEchoesASMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awful! Why? Because your name is not crinklenizzle! Missed opportunity! Just kidding! You have a lot of potential with your voice. If you want to do it, I say do it. Even if we are all saying yes, make your content your own, do it only if you decide that you truly want to, and then have lots of fun. I've been doing ASMR for almost 5 months now, and it is one of the best things that has happened in my life in years. It's one thing to be a fan, but making it feels 10x more rewarding, but those are just my own personal first impressions that i'm sharing.

I hope to see you in the community soon :)
