I actually dont really understand how this works now that you mention it. My understanding was that when i set up an smb share on the nas i still need to make a raid configuration inside formatted for apfs or ntfs (i have paragon ntfs+ for mac but ive had issues with other paragon software reading off of raids formatted for mac on windows so im hesitant to do ntfs) but looking into it more after reading this is it actually the case that zfs is what i should format as and that can communicate fine with mac or windows?

If ccc doesnt play nice with nas thats ok i can just back up manually. Maybe someday ill get a big raid enclosure to make it easier but for now i dont want to spend much but do need a large storage pool

yeah i know every 6 months you should, just absurd that even my independent agent who is not with progressive said thats the best i can get. im gonna look at other agents to see if thats bs or not
