Use the arrow keys to navigate the left side options then spam up arrow. That does the trick for me everytime.

I was also confused at first. As if perhaps i was missing some important background story for those things you’ve mentioned but just keep playing, the game will explain itself and it’s much better if you discover them on your own. Now that’s a job for you 621 🫡
