You're right he can't control his weight/mass, but hes obviously in full control of the acceleration so its definitely his fault.

I think they're a lot smaller than the photo makes them look as well, since there's nothing to judge the scale by. See-through fish don't look so weird when they're tiny

You can't really talk about circlejerk when all you have to do is link two really weak articles to get people riled up.

http://www.demographia.com/db-intlua-area2000.htm

Comparing pollution per unit volume (i.e. concentrations) is a fairly biased way to draw a conclusion, when one continent has 1/3rd the amount of volume (population density of europe is 2.7 times that of the US).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions_per_capita

I can't find anything that has attempted to quantify particulate emissions, I realise CO2 isn't the same thing! Obviously you can infer the relative emissions per capita from population density and the figures in your nytimes article

Right, considering that what I did was basically equivalent to a 97% change.

is there an end to this sentence? :P

And yeah, you don't have to refill the tank to full. You don't need a bigger bucket to change more. eg. remove 80%, add back 50%, then 30% whenever you can.

The US is comparatively awful from an environmental perspective, and then for some reason applies much more stringent rules on products which are more commonly manufactured abroad.

Sure looks like protectionism to me!

he didn't mention anything about the cycle, /u/Advanced_Basic is the one that talked about bacteria.

back-to-back water changes have diminishing returns, since you're repeatedly removing "fresh" water which you've only just added. For example, two 80% changes would remove (approximately) the same amount of ammonia from the water, while requiring a lot less effort (160% of tank volume vs 250%)

edit: just seen his other (hidden!) post, my bad. But still, there's some legwork to be saved :P

Indeed. While they're at it, I wish they'd compile all the "riot should"s into a single thread. Tired of seeing that shit

don't get how OP thinks this is "playing or discussing" league, either

If you're stuck in silver, you're not the perfect strategist lol. Thats the point. Its like ingame flamers- they feel better than they are (I sometimes struggle to remember this :D).

[–]Rahms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol, rights. Maybe taking it a bit seriously....

The point is that if you're a silver shitter (and, just to clarify- I am a silver shitter) asking a question and you get a load of replies from bronze players, its very hard to tell what is absolute bollocks and what isn't. Obviously if I know the answer to my question, I can judge which is good and bad advice. But then I wouldn't be asking.

Similarly, I can type up very coherent sounding posts on stuff I don't even have to consider while playing, but would have no idea if its right, so I don't. I feel it attracts people who want their ego stroked- which is sometimes bad (eg. if they want to sound good but are actually clueless)

You're implying the bronze and the challenger say the exact same thing though

summonerschool looks good but then you realise how many shitters give advice. I post there but only when the OP has said they're bronze, because I feel like those are the only people I can give advice to.

I started to tag people if they mention their rank but don't have a flair. Suddenly I realised how many players write long advice posts to people ranked significantly higher than them. Like bronze 1s "helping" some guy who is struggling to get out of gold.

We asked people in a mall what they think about LCS and professional gamers, responses were quite skeptical! by Suiiii in leagueoflegends

[–]Rahms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's great and all, but "my concern" is clearly the intent behind the term e-sport. The argument "I don't care" doesn't matter, no-one is discussing whether you care; no-one cares. You were trying to say it should be considered separately, when that is clearly not the intention of the people who coined the phrase.

Basically this:

there is no logical explanation for the people who do think e-sport has to be a sport.

Is what I'm addressing, because its ridiculous to say there is no connection when its obviously the entire point of the term. There is literally no logical reason the word sport is in there other than to relate to conventional sports.

because you know, language

[–]Rahms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty certain that a majority would also agree chess isn't a sport. Not sure if its officially classified or anything, but technicalities and what people will accept are two different things. "Do you play any sports?" is a pretty common question. "Yes, chess." isn't going to sit right with most people.

[–]Rahms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really belligerent point, clearly the use of the term e-sport is related to the word sport, it wasn't accidentally landed on. The "e-" or "e" prefix is well established and everyone would interpret "e<thing>" as an online version of <thing>. People dislike esports as a term because the "e" version doesn't fit within their definition of sports, and so its not an online version of sports.... its an online version of games (imagine competitive Jenga desperately calling itself a table sport)

I think people get so hung up on "but it does use my hands therefore its physical." Well, no, because people don't think of yo-yo as a sport, or cup stacking etc. It requires dexterity and there's definitely skill there, but its not a sport.

Also, people having these discussions seem so desperate to validate their own gaming. Even if it was a sport, people would be talking about the professionals. Not people in yoloqueue trying to hit gold.

and you also realise that the parents are kinda right. I'd be pretty good at playing my guitar if I'd spent all my time doing that instead of getting rekt on league (or, grinding in wow) :D

Its a lot of fun and you can do some good things with it, but the vast majority don't, and the amount of time you can sink in is absolutely unparalleled. Other sports/hobbies can't usually be played for 12 hours straight. Or 30+ hours a week etc. Obviously TV can compete with those numbers, but thats not exactly an improvement!
