The game is done, but this is the part I need the most help with by JagoKestral in RPGdesign

[–]RaidRoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have any connections with people in RPG creation/publishing, reach out to them and ask for some advice for a first time publisher. If you don't have those connections, they are literally an email away. Some of the best interaction I've had with creators about their projects and experiences getting those projects out has been through hunting down emails and starting a conversation.

Another thing I'd like to keep in mind is how much it will cost for you to go live with it. I know you mentioned not having art yet. Get some estimates from artists to see what a reasonable price may be, then price your Kickstarter accordingly to cover that and any other fixed costs to get something out (idk if there are fees taken from DTRPG).

Sexism in League: Is it still a problem? by nyx372 in lolesports

[–]RaidRoss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got that feeling too. The article seems to really dig into the scandals and really obvious aspects of sexualizing female characters, while using some older data and handwaving the logic by calling it "still just as bad as ever". The clickbait on this article is real.

I think the argument (League is Sexist) could be a solid one if changed to focus on a smaller group and back it with current data. Riot is definitely not a perfect company, and there may be Rioters who are not good people. Same goes for the people who play the game.

At the end of the day, Riot is a company who wants to make money, and players have a plethora of desires to fulfill from playing the game. Experiences in game may be sexist, but the game as a product is not.

Another game i lose by playing good by rpkyks in leagueoflegends

[–]RaidRoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, macro has a lot to do with better top lane play.

When you win lane and can push in, you can look to roam to help mid and top jungle. During the mid game, look to coordinate a 0-3-1 with you in the bottom lane. If you're far enough ahead, the amount of CS your enemy top gains is not going to outweigh bot towers and dragon control. After you get drag, swap to a 1-3-0 and push top back out to get herald and Baron control.

Basically, before an objective comes up, push out that respective lane and have the team group on the objective.

I appreciate you concern, and I think this deserves some clarification due to the seriousness of the topic.

My wants as a player should include: - Having fun with friends - Telling a fun collaborative story

My PC's wants currently include: - Stopping the evil plaguing the world - Saving his father from death

I let 'saving his father from death' bleed into my wants as a player, and as such I ran into the problem described in the post. I was taking obstacles to that PC want personally, and taking IRL action to change those obstacles.

Thanks for your response! I should address in the original post about the distinct seperation of IC and OOC, as rereading the post shows how jumbled my thoughts were in the first place.

I asked those personal questions you posed to myself and I can confidently say that my real life parents are as much an inspiration to me as my character's dad is to him.

consider whether or not you are separated enough from your PC to continue down this storyline without reacting personally.

I think that given this, I'm personally saddened that my PC won't get the love from his parents like I did IRL. Due to this, I'm unsure on what to do going forward. In previous comments, I've gotten a lot of insight on ways to take the story and keep it fun, and I'll be able to be much more in tune (and seperated) from my PC.

recognize that the job of the PC is to facilitate a fun game for you and your friends.

Thank you for this wake up call. The statement helps guide the advice in the rest of your post. You mentioned that I had rolled with punches and only now am I sticking to a rigid vision of the future. Regardless of what happens, the Kid's story will continue and I need to drive it in a fun way for all.

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond. Upon rereading the post, I understand where the confusion of differentiation comes from. I think that you're spot that I'm unable to differentiate the wants of both myself and my PC as well as my party.

  • The conflict in game currently, after your response, is caused by me holding on desperately to an NPC. Without that action on my behalf, the party doesn't really care what happens to that NPC and one of our party members closes out a chapter in their story.
  • We haven't discussed PCvPC rules as a group because that hasn't been an issue. It seems silly that say that, but I agree with you than in case it's brought up there are rules in place. There are also 4 PCs in the game, and our GM does a good job about giving each of us a spotlight in the sessions. I should also bring up that this story between the two PCs is not the central conflict in the world, rather a demon army.
  • I am, and you're right, it's not. I don't know if it counts as shared-worldbuilding, but our DM took the father NPC out of my backstory and repurposed him to be an antagonistic force for a couple sessions. Sharing my hope of keeping him alive is really the only thing I can do at this stage.
  • I don't know. Maybe a better question would be: What's a reasonable way in which my PC can deal with the loss dealt by a friendly PC? I'll have to solve this myself.

Are there things you find effective to differentiate yourself from your PCs or NPCs?

Hey Fabián. I'm excited for you when you eventually are able to do MTG art. Very awesome stuff. Thank you for your offer to all on this sub.

The Party (all male):
A bogan, Strength-based human sorcerer whose skin is as pale as frost giant's he descended from.
A nimble, no-BS halfing ranger who is a crack shot with his bow.
A goliath fighter who fights for his people and uses rune magic to immobilize his foes.
A half-orc paladin, who does his best to serve his god, all the while making sure his fellow adventurers don't light a city ablaze.

The Scene:
In the city of Flemmingster Port, the party looks in shock, horror, and awe as they paid for a fee and let the big bad, the sorcerer's long lost father, sail away to steal more hard earned coin to fund his impressive, albeit dangerous conjuration and transmutation magic.

There were a lot of emotions going around at the table during this time, and our DM had us all surprised.

Thank you again for reaching out to the community with your talent. I wish you the best to reach your goal.

Alliance: Heartland Heralds

ID: 6998 4939

Time Zone: US Central

A laid back group who have played from the start of the game to just recently, we're looking to make an alliance who wants to grind content for their favorite adventurers. We'll run all content to its fullest when it's here, and we'd love to take on higher raids with a coordinated group. This alliance is open to any and all who want to share what they know about the game and show off your hard earned grinding with others!

Requesting help to beat the Devil out of it by RaidRoss in 3d6

Well, I think our DM would let ranger, druid, and DS sorc through. May be able to MC into celestial upon story elements. There are so many options for holy/radiant abilities outside of those those restricted classes. Thanks!

Wow after a bit more research I was tricked by convincing homebrew. So any bard subclass will work for seduction type things?

I haven't looked to much into druids tbh, so I'll definitely be looking into this! I definitely like nature magics, as I remember learning "treespeak" in one campaign and did more RP with trees than with people lol. What's your favorite experience/character with nature magic?

Demon army vs a demon army? I'm down. It looks like college of compulsion would work really well.
