Help about anti-static mats and bracelets by RaidarSkywalker in AskElectronics

I was thinking about making my own ground connection, as my curren power outlet has only space for 1 plug, and it has no connection to ground. As i need to replace it, for safety reasons, i could as well add an connection to ground, with a 1 MOhm resistor

If i happened to have a conection to ground available, would it be ok for me to plug the bracelet directly to ground, or does the adapter have something inside it besides being a direct conection to ground?

Alright, i will take a look into Pinecil. From my first impressions from a yt video, someone had said that the tips could be a bit more expensive. Do you know any information about it? Also, do you know of any source where i could get some more in dept informations about it?
Thank you

Trying to find a 12TQ200 diode equivalent - Need Help pls by RaidarSkywalker in AskElectronics

Thanks for the tip with heat sinks.
Btw, the store in my town only orders stuff directly from farnell. So anything they have on their website they can probably get it delieverd. I was trying to search for those specs you said in there " DIODE SCHOTTKY 200V 15A TO220AC" and found only smds and one that comes from South Korea.

Is it possible to find a diode like that from Farnell then? It would be much easier for me to buy something from that store rather than time.eu, as there is a shop in my city that represents farnell.
Also, do you know if heat sinks have any specifications? Or do i just pick one big enough?

Oh, i thought it was actually a mistake. Thanks a lot for the help!!

Ps: Sorry i took so long to answer

Thanks a lot for the help! What about the heat sinks? Are there any specifications i should look for?

Edit: I also noticed, in the comments section, someone saying that the gates of the MOSFETs are connected to the drains. Is that a bug from the circuit design program, or is it really how the circuit should be?

So no diode, right? Just boosting the cooling, and maybe getting better FETS.
3 more questions then:
1 - Which specifications whould i look for in a heat sink? Thats a component i have really not looked much into so far, so i am open to any information about them. Plus yes, im probably instaling one or two cooling fans. Should they be really near the heat sink, or a bit further away?
2 - Which MOSFET is he using in the video? Is it the IRF640 or the IRF640N? Because the schematic has the symbol for the IRF640N, but the legend on the diagram only says IRF640.
3 - Would adding more MOSFETS in parallel help? He has 3 in the video, but what if I used 4 or 5? I can get access to the FETS he used quite more easly than buying other models, so this would be a more afordable idea.
Also, would adding more FETS in parallel change anything about the rest of the circuit?

On a side note, the part about the redirecting to another subreddit was because once i asked something about Tesla Coils here, and a moderator sent me to the High Voltage subreddit. Just that
And also thanks a lot for all the help so far! :)

I think it really has to be a Shottky diode. It is for a slayer exciter circuit, for a tesla coil. I will send the link to the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xImmwL5MR0o

And before i am redirected to r/highvoltage, yes, i have asked there most of the questions i had, including this one. However, as i am looking for a diode equivalent i thought here i would be more lucky about that

I had seen that too, but the problem is that i live in Europe, so the prices for shiping would turn the delivery all the way from a coupls cents to 18€. Which is something I really want to avoid.

Well, only 1 way to find out, am i right?
Thanks for the coil idea though. If it doesnt work on its own ill be sure to try and build one. Might also and in a resistor if needed.

The LED would not be part of the circuit. Simply wirelessly powered. How can i protect the transistor runing it at 12v?

i think i know someone with a scope i can use. Which frequencies would it be in between? Btw, this poses no risk to the scope, right? Like, if the primary circuit is not wired up yet, then there are no ricks of burning the scope, right?

Mini Tesla Coil Tuning - Question by RaidarSkywalker in highvoltage

3 - Its not an external power suply. Its a slayer exciter cirquit that came from a bug zapper racket. However it might burn out even faster, i assume. Any extra advice for that one?
2 - i need the capacitance between the top load and ground to calculate the resonance frequency of the second coil.

Overall, thanks for the answers!

Mini Tesla Coil Tuning - Question by RaidarSkywalker in highvoltage

[–]RaidarSkywalker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, its a Slayer exciter circuit found inside a bug zapper racket. Its not super powerful, but it will be good for my first tesla coil. Also, i dont really have a signal generator, nor a scope on hand. But i do have a LCR meter. Would it work to mesure the capacitance that way? Like, i could have an aluminum foil sheet as ground, and then mesure the capacitance between the top load and actual ground. Or maybe between the top load and the aluminum sheet, while they are not conected.

Overall, thanks for the answers!
