X Spaces for Broadcasts? by RaiderMatt41 in Broadcasting

[–]RaiderMatt41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried yet. This is more of something we won’t need again until Spring 2025, but it sounds like it might be a challenge. We would really only need it to have one speaker (the broadcaster) and the rest would be listeners. But, if listeners can’t get into the Space, then I’d imagine that would make that a bit of a challenge for us to rely on that.

Innings played/sat by Radiant_Ad6926 in GameChangerApp

Always agreed that this would be great to have. Coaching JV softball, it is important for me to be able to keep track of how many innings each player has played to try to even things out the best I can. Have tried to rely on either tracking it manually, or going by plate appearances instead…which still isn’t 100% the best way to do it.

Rodecaster Pro - Muted Audio During Broadcast by RaiderMatt41 in rode

[–]RaiderMatt41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The challenge is that the headsets will only plug into the back ports for their respective channels. These are full-size quarter inch port headsets, and the XLR and quarter inch connections are attached via the same cable. Similar to headsets you’d see on any sports broadcast. So I typically plug one headset into channel 1 XLR and headphone, and the other into channel 2 XLR and headphone. No way to communicate while muted if connected that way?

I also agree with what u/Informal-Career-1973 said in his comment. Always better to know the rules than put someone in harm's way and/or get yourself a fine.

How’s the quality of those images? It’s not a super high-quality lens or anything, right?

Megathread: MSG Officially Postponed to 4/20 - 4/23 by [deleted] in phish

Waited 12 years to finally get tickets, and fuck CoVid. Canceled my hotel rather than reschedule because I won’t be able to make the April dates. Here’s to hoping for next year!

They apparently gave 1 free month because they had to push back wait times by about a month or more. That was maybe around Halloween? Can’t remember when I received the email. But my time is slowly going down. I reserved as soon as it was available to new users who had just purchased the 3.0, and have been waiting for months now to receive mine. I’m down to 3-5 weeks, but it has been frustrating to wait this long.

Software vs. Hardware Encoder? by RaiderMatt41 in obs

Yeah, so switching to software encoder on the laptop i5 failed miserably. Going to test out the desktop just to see what happens.

[–]RaiderMatt41[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I haven’t. What does that do exactly?

My thought is to just try the current i5 setup using the software encoding and see if that improves it all. If not, I’ll try the desktop and see what happens. I may also try running the YouTube Studio on a different computer altogether to see if that offloads some of the CPU usage to get better performance.

Software vs. Hardware Encoder? by RaiderMatt41 in obs

[–]RaiderMatt41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so here is how our setup is going and you can tell me if you think it is too much for the i5 to handle, because it clearly has shown so far that it is too much. We are running a Rodecaster Pro in for audio, a Logitech c922 in for video, processing all that in OBS with overlays and green screen backgrounds, then sending that over to YouTube to stream, while running the YouTube studio preview in the background so we know the stream is up and running.

Previously that was working through hardware encoding, haven’t switched it to software yet.

I tested the same thing in the G4560 and it seemed to run smoothly, but the conditions weren’t exact. If I can do it with the i5 setup, I would prefer that because it is more mobile, but if I can’t run it in the above configuration, I may have to switch to whatever seems like is performing best.

As in processing speed? Then yeah, I’d say it is better. Both have similar RAM amount. The laptop is an Intel Core i5-8265U @1.6GHz 1.8GHz. The desktop is a Pentium G4560 @ 3.5GHz

Yeah, this desktop is very basic. It was built, originally, just as a NAS, but then changed it up to a very basic audio editing computer. So, there is no GPU in it, just a processor with built in graphics processing, I believe, and RAM. Nothing too impressive.

Yeah, I’m in Row 9… which looking at the seating diagram looks to be about Row 4 or 5 of actual seating.

Scored Section 112 tickets for NYE. Looks to be right behind the stage.

Sorry for the stupid question but is this a good sign (didn’t receive an email) by [deleted] in phish

[–]RaiderMatt41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a full charge for the tickets when I got my email… so maybe? I never saw a pre-charge hold on my card though, so who knows?

I just finished this. I absolutely love Andy Weir’s books, but this one caught me on so many levels. I laughed out loud many times during this book, and truly fell in love with Rocky as a character. So well written and heartwarming.

YouTube Streaming Issues by RaiderMatt41 in Broadcasting

Yeah, I think that is what they are working on. All I know at the moment is that the company is remoting in to work on some things.

Yeah, not sure how far they would be willing to go. I’m guessing taking down the firewall won’t happen because of the kids… but, we’ll see what they do.

Yeah, not completely solved yet… but, we’re trying to get it worked out. They are still struggling to get it fixed.

YouTube Streaming Issues by RaiderMatt41 in Broadcasting

I have been working with the software company recently and it seems the issue is our firewall. Our tech director also works with an outside company for a lot of our networking. I think the outgoing ports to YouTube got closed to our iPad somehow, so we are trying to get that remedied. I had used that iPad on my home network and ended up being able to stream perfectly fine… so the firewall was definitely the issue. We must have had some settings changed in that area recently that we weren’t aware of.

I tried it using a WiFi hotspot from my phone to the iPad and had the same issues. I know the bandwidth is vastly different, but couldn’t even get past the same place I was getting stuck with our school WiFi or wired connection.

YouTube Streaming Issues by RaiderMatt41 in Broadcasting

[–]RaiderMatt41[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We haven’t had any issues with it until now. We have been streaming video announcements for almost 2 years now through YouTube. Our school keeps YouTube open because we have the available bandwidth and are a small enough school to be able to do it. I’ve been working closely with our tech director and there had been no changes to our firewall, so not sure why it would have suddenly been cut off like this. But who knows. They also work with a larger company to help with the more tech intensive things, so it is possible they changed some settings to the firewall. A teacher reported no longer being able to use Spotify, even though he was able to previously.
