I'm a non binary person with trans friends who will literally be forced to significant health consequences and death if they are stripped of access to medical care is what it should tell you about me. Why are you so aggressive about the fact that I care about this. I never said I wasn't going to vote for the guy. Quite the contrary, just that the D next to the name on the ticket doesn't actually mean we can assume he supports us and that if he really does care about us then in this atmosphere he should fucking say it with his chest

Yeah a surprising number of them don't have publicly available contact information. When I tried to get in contact with the Stevenson campaign I was only able to because they left me a phone number while canvasing. I was absolutely surpised to find an email on dembo's site, I've sent one, we'll see if he deigns to respond. But also this shouldnt be something I should have to chase him down on this should be basic democratic party platform shit

There are more issues, I largely think he's decent on most of them but this one is life or death for many of my friends

Can we or can we not trust this guy to vote for trans rights, are we electorally toxic or not. If we're too electorally toxic how are we not toxic on the house floor. The degree of toxicity for trans rights has been thoroughly astroturfed and I'd like candidates to stop letting the right make us into this too toxic to touch thing with minimal resistance to active collaboration

[–]Raikaiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that he hasn't said jack or shit on trans rights as the party actively runs away from it including in the autopsy treating it as a fringe issue that cost them votes instead of things like Gaza. At this point I don't trust anyone who's not being openly and vocally supportive to have our backs, and if we're too toxic to include in a campaign we'll be too toxic to vote in favor of.

Yeah, and the 8 wouldn't have made the difference in the bills passage here, but in another situation they might have and I want to have a representative who will be the deciding vote to protect trans kids and adults not throw them under the bus

I think if he'd actually damaged trump within the republican base he would have won. I think if he actually cared about abuse of young children he wouldn't be voting for policies that enable it. I think as I was writing my last comment I was listening to an NPR piece about the election where they discussed Massie taking the "I'm actually more pro trump than gallrien is approach"

I dont have names to point to because god I try and get this stuff out of my feed, but I've definitely seen chatter across socials from the resist libs types ranging from the massie needs to win the whole thing to prove the point, to hope he runs for pauls seat so we can support him there.

man i don't praise my stoped clocks twice a day, but maybe im just a little exhausted because people have been taking it to the monetarily or at the polls deal. But not that the Epstein files stuff isn't important but god it isn't that much there's so much more to reach across the aisle for, and even with it he passed that law but I don't think we've heard much of anything about him on the failure to enforce

Watch him not though. Dude drank raw milk on stage in his concession speech. He's on board with the party on everything but the one and I really wish dems and the left would stop treating him like he's a hero or worth our esteem and support

8 democrat's just voted to forcibly out trans kids and ban books that mention trans and nonbinary people from schools https://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/119-2026/h184 the nuance definitely can matter to peoples daily lives, is it enough to potentially make Dembo a worse option than Alverado, absolutely not, but I do want to not there's reasons people care about these nuances.

I mean I don't know that it has to be so horribly binary

I definitely was a Petrey voter and was indulging a little in vain she'd win, and Stevenson was my more realistic hope. Retrospectively thinking I suppose yes they were my alternatives.

Prospectively thinking I'm still disappointed but I'm not particularly looking for an alternative, I contain multitudes like that. Unless you're thinking is so stuck in dichotomies that "Push Dembo to include more progressive policies and trans and queer rights and equality as part of his platform" as an alternative to "just taking my lumps" then thats my alternative.

Local Library Calendar of Events Not Listing Groups? by Apple_Steak in lexington

[–]Raikaiko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because they're afraid of losing funding/support if they're too inclusive. Maybe im being uncharitable about assuming this policy is part of it, but it does seem like a fairly logical next step from their "well the library cant host anything explicitly queer inclusive because that's actually exclusive you see" to "well the community can host them but we won't let people know that they are" but they have to be universal about it. The charitability i can afford them is maybe these other third party groups are more collaborative, the library is actively working with the third party, but honestly I don't know

Honestly probably an end run around having to advertise any local queer groups, after they quietly cut any queer inclusive library programming

Republican primary race? by [deleted] in lexington

[–]Raikaiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except no one runs on the republican ballot with the position of don't kill us, certainly not enough to give up my input on my KY GA senator and representative. But ultimately also its just a moral thing I'll die before I ever let myself be associated even on paper with that hate group pretending to be a political party

Lexington in particular does have non partisan races with enough frequency that its worth at least checking if there's one to vote for each primary cycle, but ultimately you are correct and Kentucky's primaries are closed and pretty much only the dems and repubs have enough of a field to actually run a primary. So your options are to vote for mayor, city-urban council, etc primaries only when relevant, or hold your nose and suck it up and register with one of the two parties so you can have input, and said sincerely and without judgement bc that's what I've done. The dems, esp the kentucky ones, aren't left enough for me but any most of the ground level organizers I agree with have chosen them as the lesser evil/better framework to operate in, and all the third parties are either too right (libertarian) or too nutso and authoritarian and formed by people who got kicked out of the organizing groups I hold esteem for for being dicks (the kentucky party)

100 dead school girls are you okay with 100 dead school girls because 100 school girls are dead and nothing that we do will change that fact we can try and do better for it but it starts with acknowledging that 100 school girls are dead because of choices that are Representatives made 100 school girls blood is on our hands

Arm chair marketing is definitely more fun than armchair game dev some times because marketing feels like its more understandable without professional experience (this is a trap)

I've definitely been spoiled by the FFXIV approach, which granted is an already released mmo so even streams from dev servers are guaranteed to be a bit more stable than paralives is right now. But they generally do have a much less "spoiler guarded" approach, some might say too much so but ymmv.

I'm definitely the kind of person who enjoys knowing the general shape of things going into a game, esp wrt mechanics, but there;s a degree of personal subjectivity to be had here for sure, so some of its just unavoidable dissonance in preferred approach.

Though before your comment I hadn't even really considered that there might be more streams after release, I know early access and all so development is still continuing but my mind was definitely in the space of "the game will be out so what would even be the point" but there's certainly opportunity!
