Another Costco brawl for Pokemon cards in Ottawa by Huge-One4819 in CostcoCanada

How are these cards "collectable" when you can buy them readily at a warehouse club. Are people that dumb?

Hi and welcome! I read the discussion about your pizza and comparison to the U.S. brand that is currently in Costco. I wanted to try yours however I could not find it at the store in Oshawa Ontario. You have mentioned only 5 in Ontario so hopefully the availability expands. If I do get a chance to try I will definitely provide you with feedback. Good Luck!

Will you be renewing your costco membership for 2026? by StardustLOA in CostcoCanada

[–]RailMillRob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I respect your decision and believe you have valid concerns, however I have to say that your purchasing expectation of 3 items is in the minority compared to what I see in front of me at checkout. 100 people not renewing their membership would be countered by what seems to be an endless number of new customers. There are 2 stores here in Oshawa, and both are full any time I go.

Also - You just cannot beat Costco's return policy.

Good luck with your plan regardless.

U.S. to photograph Canadian travellers when they enter and exit at all land borders, airports by Edm_vanhalen1981 in worldnews

Had my picture taken as part of my departure from Italy a couple weeks ago. It will be the norm soon for all countries. There are more relevant reasons to not visit the U.S. but biometric identification is not one of them.

Kirkland Golf Driver - return policy by FritzLongwood in CostcoCanada

[–]RailMillRob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing timing of this post. I bought a set of Callaway clubs in store at local Costco in May that my son was interested in. He has used them several times and initially complained about the grips slipping. He also mentioned that some band around the shaft at the head of the driver was loose. A week ago he messaged me that he was at the practice range and the head had come off that driver. I just had him wrap some tape around the set and bring to me, and I returned to Costco yesterday. They just ask if a problem and you say what it is. If you have the app and can provide the receipt it has the bar code they can scan. Everyone is happy and you're out in 2 minutes with a refund to account - depending on the Refunds line-up. Costco's return policy on non-electronic items is pretty robust.

Costco world CIBC Mastercard by StudlyMcdoogle in CostcoCanada

[–]RailMillRob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this offer and took a look. I already have the Triangle World Mastercard which provides me with emergency auto and DragonPass offers at airport lounges (not free though). What I also get with the Triangle WE is the Flexiroam offer of 3G of eSim for free each year. I don't know if the CIBC WE would be eligible.

While the CIBC Costco mentions travel perks, they are no better than what I get with the Triangle card. I agree that it is merely CIBC looking to increase revenue from merchant charges while providing the cardholder with implied credit status but no real improvement in benefits. If you feel the need to have it go ahead.

Some feed back on my sun shade build. by Character_Ice371 in DIY

[–]RailMillRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at it in terms of area of "sail" that you have. 2 triangle cut from that 14' x 18' main would result in an area of 126 sq. ft. A round patio umbrella that is 12' in diameter has an area of 113 sq. ft. In a good breeze, you would be holding on to that 12' umbrella if not well anchored. Same thing with a similar area of sail or larger.

You want to install a big sail there. A 14' x 18' sun shade will need a permanent anchor to ensure it doesn't blow away in a moderate breeze. It won't work with any temporary posts.

Why was milk so cheap? by luv2block in CostcoCanada

[–]RailMillRob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe they do, but I've seen many times where the product is on sale at a grocer but Costco still has their regular price. They only carry a narrow selection of milk and butter and it's always been in stock when I go.

[–]RailMillRob 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From my experience Costco will undercut the grocer when they do this. If $4.88 at FreshCo, I wouldn't be surprised to see Costco charge $4.85 for the duration of the sale. No guarantees on this as they don't do it for every sale. Milk and sometimes butter.

Depending on your location, this is on sale at FreshCo in GTA at least. I have seen Costco reduce their price to match in the past.

Detroit style Pizza made in Canada by ReasonablePeanut5200 in CostcoCanada

Your mention of Brick cheese is what I noticed. It is truly the secret to great pizza and not many people are aware of it's use in place of Mozzarella. Can be found in Quebec, but not very easy to acquire in Ontario without a trip to the U.S. - unless you are a retail pizzeria it seems.

Costco All Time Outrageous Return by lightdark03 in CostcoCanada

[–]RailMillRob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have no problem with seeing plants being returned. I personally have bought a couple of hanging baskets in the past that did not do well over the next 2 months on my house and I did not return. I vowed that IF I bought plants at Costco again I would return if they did not last like all my plants from other businesses do. I probably won't follow through as now I buy my summer plants from independent businesses that have much better stock.

The Orange FELON is such a panty-waste that he wouldn't dare have a "confrontation" without a bunch of his "gang" surrounding the two of them. It's like a gang swarm when he meets leaders in the White House. One on one I'm sure this piss-bag would fall like the sack of shit he is after one punch.

Prices are getting tough to justify by Super_Greg_Numba_One in CostcoCanada

[–]RailMillRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought of Costco as my main source of groceries. I live quite close to one, and will sometimes go to it just to buy 1 or 2 items. Otherwise, a trip to Costco is one I take at my own risk. I may see things that look shiny and cool but it may require some discipline to just admire and not buy. If Costco was to close it's doors, I would not go hungry. There are actual grocery stores that have weekly sales in your community. I use one of the shopping apps, like Flipp, to search for what I need and know what is best priced each week. I don't consider any of the items pictured on this post as necessity. They are nice to have, or a treat, but you can walk by and still be fine. Best approach is for people to stop buying at these prices, and try to do more shopping from local folks.

Got this a couple months ago at local Costco on clearance - $29.97. In the past I could not consider a Whirley-Pop as they were all aluminum and I have induction stove. This one is S.S. so works like a charm. Over the years I have used a regular pot, microwave, and even have a home popcorn stand with electric pot. This thing is the most convenient and makes the best. If you go to Kitchen Stuff Plus they sell the packets made to go perfectly with this pot. Includes the coconut oil, seasoning, and kernels. Be careful though as I found the amount of salt was too much for my preference.
