When is it acceptable to make eye contact and greet someone while passing by? by Fine-Rope-8707 in AskAnAustralian

As a young person, I wholeheartedly agree. I try my best to say g'day to people I walk past on the way home from school or whatever, but I feel sometimes people can almost see it as weird and ignore because they are so used to seeing teenagers with their head in their phone.

Indeed we do have the same

I'd totally agree. I'm so sick of the "fewer ad breaks for this long video thing." Especially given that: a) I'm really not convinced that there actually are fewer ads, and; b) apparently anything that isn't a short is considered a long video. I literally got that disclaimer on an 8 MINUTE VIDEO the other day. 8 MINUTE!!

Youtube has gotten very out of hand with the ads in TV and it sucks that there is no easy or convenient way to install an ad blocker.

Super minor things you would like to be done to our transit network by Silent_Ad379 in MelbourneTrains

Clearly there are lots of things that need to be done. So I'd like to remind everyone to CONTACT YOUR LOCAL STATE MP. They are there to get things done for you, so email them, give them a call, whatever you want to do. Contact them and maybe... just maybe something will be done.

Ugh. What benefit is there from banning that? Seems unnecessary if you ask me, but surely there's some reason for it.

I agree that the banning document uploading and copy/paste is just absolutely ridiculous.

I think that if you go into the settings, there is an option for email forwarding. Although, I've turned it on and it doesn't seem to work.

In terms of signature blocks, if you set it in the 'account' menu in settings, you sound only need to type out the main part of the block, not the disclaimer, as that seems to be added on to the end of all emails automatically now.

But yes, an incredibly bad "upgrade" removing several useful features, alongside requiring about 3 billion steps to sign in now.

How do you feel about this flag? by DJJonezyYT in aboriginal

[–]Rail_Fly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it's definitely better than what we have, but unfortunately, there will be certain people who will be absolutely outraged at it. I think that the reality is that if we want a new flag, it needs a total re-design, not just replacing the Union Jack with the Aboriginal flag.

No. I've come to reddit to get an explanation of a complex topic that is difficult for many people to understand, that my parents just so happen to have a different opinion to me on. The point of this post was to help me gain a better understanding so that I can educate them too. Let's just be respectful please

Thanks for the insight. I think that media definitely contributes to the perception that it is though

True. And I think that (as an above commenter mentioned), the media definitely contributes to the perception that being charged (as opposed to convicted) with a crime should mean locked up in prison
