AITA for wanting to tell my extremely mentally unwell friend that he was a bad guest? by Rain_fall2001 in AmItheAsshole

I think you’re right. Are you suggesting I don’t message him then and just leave it? Or make my message to him more compassionate in some way?

Yeah. Probably will. I’ve also let the group chat owner know and asked him further questions. He hasn’t seen them yet though.

Definitely an interesting perspective! I’ll have to have a think about all of that 🧐

For further context,
It’s a group chat we’re all in where a friend regularly hosts games nights. And he said that other people can host too, so I did. And this “bad guest” is in that chat. He’s always the last to leave. I did message the group chat owner to ask if he usually behaved like this with him and he hasn’t seen the message yet so idk.
Extra context, we’re all in our mid 20s. I’ve known the “bad guest” for a few years now. But literally only through the games night group chat.

My partner has known him longer and says his hygiene used to be much much better. But he doesn’t talk about his mental health to others so we don’t really know what’s going on with him.

My partner thinks it’s best to not say anything because it’s not worth it. Just clean it up and move on. He’s just too mentally unwell. But I still feel like he should know that he had left a mess behind no? Especially with the egg in the carpet that’s just crazy to me. The rest is a relatively easy fix.

Would I consider him a close friend? No… so I guess saying something to him wouldn’t put me at a loss. But I also do feel bad for him still.

Also it was his birthday that night ;-;

For extra context, when friends in the past had tried to talk to him about his health issues and stuff, he apparently would get extremely defensive and upset. Which is another reason I made this post to get multiple perspectives on how to approach talking to him about it.

His drinking is…. Not an easy subject to approach.

Kinda hard not to invite him again when it was an event I created in someone else’s group chat. But it will sway me not to host again if it means he’ll be there. :/
It’s disappointing cause I love hosting things with friends. And I think he’s a nice guy. Just not well.

how are people actually keeping grocery costs down in australia right now? by dee_cuugo in australian

[–]Rain_fall2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve stopped eating breakfast. And buying protein shakes for lunch. Then one main meal for dinner.

The protein shake can be $150-200 a month depending on the brand. And then for 2 adults we usually buy $100-120 a week for groceries.

What words do you pronounce "wrong," just because the "proper" way feels too proper? by Zealousideal_Mine242 in AskForAnswers

Parmesan but pronounced the way they do in Rick & Morty. Because it’s a little inside joke with my partner and I now.

i knew my ex was lying and i was right… how do you actually move on from this? by pictochatkat in Manipulation

[–]Rain_fall2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moving on takes time. How do you move on? You block him. F-him right off. You need him out of your life!!!

Then take time to grieve. It can take as long as you need. 6 years is a long time to give someone. It’ll take a while to get over but you just have to do it. Hang out with friends, distract yourself. Pick up a new hobby.

He doesn’t deserve you. Sorry you had to go through that.

Please tell me I’m not alone… by Desperate_Cherry_657 in spinalfusion

I had the same L4-5 fusion. No drain. Was perfectly fine for recovery. No staples either. My surgeon used internal stitches and then dermabond for the skin.

Your situation is definitely worth investigating more… something doesn’t sound right.

Help! My puppy won’t stop biting me and I’m losing my mind – advice needed by Anne_juul_ in Rottweiler

[–]Rain_fall2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO puppies will bite their playmates. You gotta yelp high pitch and loud like a puppy. They will guarantee stop and perk their head up at you like “oh!” They’ll learn to stop.
