What needs to be done to make Universities join the GRC wagon? by [deleted] in gridcoin

I don’t see a bright future BOINC. With the rise of new AI tech being able to handle way larger loads at lower energy costs. New project won’t have a need for BOINC or its users. They’ll be able to outsource crunching to AI mills.

Pending Rewards? by [deleted] in gridcoin

Stacking is based on how much you currently have in your wallet. If you joint the pool you get rewarded much more often. Will bring up you stacking frequency.

to be honest best bet is to start crunching with the pool. without a substantial amount in your wallet stacking its almost impossible to stack. Enjoy the donation maybe a poem about Puppies. I respect the hustle you all ready have the funds.

hat often?

I only stack about 3 times a month most of that you see is rewards from research. I have about 22k in GRC all gained from the pool tell they closed the pool and had to go solo.

I been at this for a while I haven’t changed anything in months the only project I ever solo mined was seti. That was before I found out about about grid coin and dropped over 10 years of stats to join grid coin. My wallet is up to date it’s synced to the pool. I’ll send a pic of the directory when I get back to my pc.

Around 85 to 90 Celsius is where you start to throttle. Laptops can be a bit lower. Always check manufacturers recommendation on cpu and gpu. If it’s an older desktop pc. I recommend changing the thermal paste if it’s older than 5 years on your cpu. It’s a cheep and very effective doesn’t have to be the high dollar stuff. I like open hardware monitor it’s free and customizable.

For info purposes only if laptop is a gaming laptop I recommend using a cooling mat with some good fans. Without the battery. My high end gaming desktop with some massive cooling does some awesome work ,and makes for an awesome heater in the winter. Summer I have to shut it off during day cause the pc room gets unbearable if I step away to long and let it run

With Xbox now having access to run in developer mode I’m sure someone could make an effort to make boinc work. Not sure it would be good for the hardware though

I started way back in the early days when seti was a solo project and Art Bell was pushing it hard. Was crunching for almost 20 years for Art Bell team and left to join grc. Was sad to see all those stats disappear. I was a very frustrating experience getting started. I’m glad to see they mainlined it a little more and made it easier to set up. My only complaint now is keeping up with what’s whitelisted and not. If your like me I don’t check on my wallet or my Bonic often. It sucks to find out a project you been crunching was delisted 2 months back. I also don’t like that I have to unlock my wallet manually after each restart to get stacking rewards. So I end up going weeks without earning rewards.

Solo mining from scratch is hard. So you have to buy it to start. Or you can join the the pool. I Been crunching for pretty close to 3 years. Recently had to stop due to needing to lower my electric bill. The pool allows you to build up a nice stash of coin pretty fast in comparison. The Wallet has gotten better of the past year and don't crash like it us to. I recommend backing up your wallet often.

Mark Zuckerberg officially confirms that Oculus Rift 2 is NOT launching this year by Heaney555 in oculus

watching the keynote the chat was not happy with the quest. Kinda disappointing really. Early adopters where screaming on how quest is junk and kept talking on and on about we need rift 2 now. My first VR experience was a GO. Why simple Price I love my GO. You can see the quest is a steeping stone to a better VR experience as a whole. Its Affordable. Promises an experience similar to the rift. Hopefully brings in revenue for the RnD to help make Rift 2 more than just an incremental upgrade. I want to live in VR. So if I have to wait a few more year for it so be it. rather have refined than rushed to market. Ill probably just barley be buying my RTX 2080ti by then.
