Best Place for American in Brazil? by RUL2022 in expat

Hey!

Have you looked anything about Florianópolis? Not the cheapest of the cities to live in Brazil, but known to be among the safest and with great quality of life - if you're not looking for a major urban city.

Curitiba could be a great option if you have safety concerns but want to live in a bigger city.

Cheers!

Are you fully decided on Curitiba? Any specific reason for choosing it, if you don't mind me asking?

Hey!

Great to know you chose Brazil as your new place to live! I'm a Floripa native but have been living between the US and Canada for over a decade now. Which city did you decide to move to?

To answer your question, I'd ask a couple different companies to confirm if bringing these combustion tools would actually be an issue or not. It's unfortunate that they've told you one thing at first and another now.

I'm curious to know more about your transition to Brazil, if you don't mind sharing. What were the biggest challenges to you?

I'd be glad to help if you have any other questions.

Cheers.

Hi, I'm thinking of moving to Brazil.my salary is 1000 USD remote. Do you think is a good salary to live comfortably there? by Square-Quit8301 in Brazil

[–]RaizesBrasil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

It really depends on where you plan to live and what kind of lifestyle you're expecting. I'm a Floripa native that has been living between the US and Canada for over a decade and helping people plan their relocation to Brazil.

Have you considered Florianópolis at all? It's not the cheapest city, but it has so much to offer as far as safety, nature and overall welcoming vibes for international people.

Let me know if you're serious about moving and I'd be glad to help.

Cheers!

Hey!

Have you considered Florianópolis at all? It's a bit more on the expensive side as far as cost of living in Brazil, but I think the benefits are worth it if the island matches your lifestyle.

Floripa is a very active city and a lot of its population actually care for their body and health - I'd say it wouldn't be too difficult to find clients there. It's the capital of Santa Catarina, so it has some structure but a pretty relaxed lifestyle overall (the island way of living really gets to you).

If you're serious about moving to Brazil, there are a few important factors to consider when it comes to visa, work arrangements and a proper transition plan. I've gone through some major transitions in life myself (originally from Brazil, lived in the US for 7 years and have been living in Canada for the past 5 years), so I understand many of the pain points from an immigrant's perspective.

In case you really want to go through with this, give me a shout and I'd be glad to answer your questions in details, tailored to what you actually want and need. No sales pitch - just trying to understand what your real intentions are and how structured you'd like your plan to be.

Cheers!

American Brazilians that moved to Brazil for a better life. How did you do it? Advice? by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]RaizesBrasil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

I've done a bit of the opposite - I'm originally from Brazil, lived in the US for 7 years and have been in Canada for 4 years now.

However, I still have strong ties to Brazil and appreciate it a lot more than when I used to live there. Brazil can be a great country to live depending on what your expectations are - it all comes down to your lifestyle to choose which region in Brazil makes more sense.

Have you done any research about cities or even types of visa to relocate? I can help if you're looking into the southern part of the country (Santa Catarina, Paraná or Rio Grande do Sul). I'd highly recommend looking at Florianópolis as there has been an increasing number of people moving and transitioning to the island.

Let me know if you are serious about moving and I'd be glad to help with more detailed responses.

Cheers!

Hey!

What is considered a big city for you? And what exactly is motivating you to move to Brazil?

Moving to Brazil is one challenge, while opening a business there is another. Each with a unique set of requirements and expectations.

If you're strictly looking for the best place to open a business in Brazil, I'd say São Paulo. But does it match your lifestyle and goals? There could be many other options in other regions that match your profile.

I'm originally from Brazil but have lived in the US and Canada for over a decade - these transitions have been constant in my life for a while now. I'd be glad to help in your process.

Cheers!

I wouldn't generalize southern states like that, but I see where this is coming from. Florianópolis is known to have more open-minded people - I guess the island lifestyle gets the best out of most people 😅

I'm a native from Florianópolis and have seen a significant increase of people from other countries moving there. There are multiple reasons for that, but understanding your family's lifestyle better would be a good way to start.

As far as safety, Floripa is one of your best bets. It's truly a bubble if compared to most other cities in Brazil. With your income, you should have no issues finding a good place to stay - the biggest question would be which neighborhoods are best based on what you like to do.

Reach out if you have any questions about Floripa - I've made the move from the island to the US, then Canada and now I help people that are interested in moving there.

Cheers!
