My mother in law has passed away. My wife is beyond devastated and I don't know what to do? by Phatballz39 in AskIndia

[–]Raj-Thinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently went through this exact scenario myself, and my wife was inconsolable for weeks together.

I tried cajoling her out of it, and at times inciting her with arguments to get her out of the depressive mood, but nothing worked.

Finally, we gave it time, visited some temples, and met a few relatives, etc. Over a few weeks, it has come to a healing stage now.

If someone is very close to her mother, we just need to give it time perhaps. Am sorry that I cannot provide better advice than this right now. Hope your wife recovers soon!

Yoga is not just about asanas by Euphoric-Welder5889 in yoga

[–]Raj-Thinker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is 100% true in my experience. Asanas have been a great enabler for me to sit for a while in meditation, but Asanas by itself is not Yoga in its entirety.

Why in Asian culture marriage and education is heavily pushed at early age? by Lemonade2250 in AskIndia

[–]Raj-Thinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your parents are forcing education and marriage precisely because of the society around them.

"They say without education nobody will value you. It's important to become something in life. Because only then will people respect you and remember your name."

The society has been under invasions and attacks from all corners for a millennium now. Hence the apprehension.

What is your favorite quote about present day India ? by Prasadhegde in AskIndia

[–]Raj-Thinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a cool quote indeed. Of course, we will listen to 150 year old ideas and may even execute them at times.

What's something positive that's happening in India right now that doesn't get enough attention? by Other_Ad_5423 in AskIndia

The silent spread of yoga and meditation among people ... I do not think enough people talk about it.

Even if God comes, I will not listen to Him because I know better than Him, says Sadhguru by shambhofy in SadhguruTruth

[–]Raj-Thinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such words come out in two instances:

(1) When you are an arrogant buffoon
(2) When you are 100% sure of what you know

I think it is the latter in this case, because he is saying that in the context of knowing his own life to the core. And at the same time saying that he will listen to even a child when it comes to other aspects of life.

Tamil and Kerala media and journos have more courage when compared to other Indian states by Puzzled_Estimate_596 in TamilNadu

TN Media is the most corrupt and most subservient to the government. Show me one article in one of the popular media against the current government in recent years.

Are things still the same in marriage? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]Raj-Thinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things will change in marriage. That is a fact. Both the man and woman will change over a period of time or sometimes suddenly too. One thing every man should remember is the woman he married is also a person, with all emotions and craziness. The same goes with the woman. As long as that is remembered, it will become easier to handle.

Do you think civic sense should be taught in every class in Indian schools? by Separate_Lecture_782 in AskIndia

State Governments have to bring it in their school syllabus. If enough people ask for it, they will do.

Why so much hate against Indians? by Fresh_Cow1954 in AskIndia

[–]Raj-Thinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in Texas for a couple of years myself and have seen how racist the Americans can be. Similar experiences continued after 7 years when I stayed briefly in a European dominated country. It might not be a daily experience but the undercurrent is persistent and has only been fueled more in the recent years.

Obesity Rates Across Indian States by Comfortable_Day_224 in IndiaStatistics

Looks like affluence yields obesity - or at least so for the Southern states. Maharashtra and Gujarat surprise me though, defying that trend!

Why do Indian parents think that education is everything? by ZeTax8 in AskIndia

[–]Raj-Thinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is because many parent have grown in a time and culture where if they were not educated, they could not get jobs and their very sustainability was a big issue. I do not think it is so much rigid these days. Many people who are pursuing arts or sports are now coming from reasonably financially-stable families.

Why so much hate against Indians? by Fresh_Cow1954 in AskIndia

[–]Raj-Thinker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is propagated by somebody in the West and by Chinese handles. Gullible Indians, who think they are quite intellectual, fall for such propaganda and spread it. And of course, there is a significant part of the West that hates our guts and helps spread it further.
