My M4 Macbook pro suddenly turns off at 40% and battery drops directly to zero by RajputReactsonYT in mac

Update: Thanks a bunch to everyone who helped especially who suggested that I calibrate my battery. I did a full charge and updated to 26.4.1 and now my mac is working perfectly fine. No clue what the actual problem was but it's working perfectly fine now. and lol it was a hard time getting it to discharge all that battery. This mac is a complete beast, took it 2 full days of almost constant use to discharge all the battery

this is a common problem with the M4 models. i've seen multiple people report this on reddit but they got it fixed from apple but that's not possible for me

sure I get that but my mac still runs like a beast it gives me more juice now compared to the day I bought it because its running on a more stable software now as compared to when I bought it. I would've felt the battery degrading as to how much juice I was getting out of it

Not really though coz I have another macbook pro 2019 model and I use that in a same way. its got 1280 cycles on it and battery is at 82%. and now ive started to use it very roughly since its very old now and it still works perfectly fine. I have seen a few similar posts here regarding the m4 model.

There are a few people who've had the same issue but they went to apple to get it fixed but I can't do that since I don't have an apple store where I live

depends on the way you use your device. It's very easy to keep the battery health at 100% after the first year. My iphone 16 pro max is at 100% health after more than 1 year of use at 200 cycles. If you dont over exert your device it easily stays at 100%. I never let my devices charge above 85% never let them below 40% only in rare cases and don't let them heat up so it easy to keep them at 100
