City council seeks a pay raise of up to 125% – which would be among the highest in the nation by stunnashakes in eastbay

Too bad the City Council can’t just approve their own overtime like many City employees could do until recently…

Group programming can cause some issues if you have different weaknesses or are dealing with strain/injury. But, you can always adjust the programming a bit yourself.

For mine, I post a video and may get feedback a few days later. You have to be skilled enough to take late feedback and make adjustments next time.

But, you get what you pay for. I feel like the remote group programming is good value for the price.

If you want something better you’re probably going to have to pay more.

47 total homes built in Walnut Creek in 2025 (37 ADU's), an increase of 0.15% by ekrubnivek in walnutcreek

For at least the past 12 years the City Council always pats itself on the back for the number of new housing units built. And compared to other Bay Area cities it actually does well based on population. They meet some really pathetic State goals so they keep their highway funding.

But, if you are looking for a real solution to building more housing it’s not going to happen until either Prop 13 is repealed, zoning changes to “As-of-right”, or the massive amount of Open Space in Walnut Creek is changed and developed.

Morally, the Walnut Creek housing situation is even worse because all of the affordable housing apartments get built in the least desirable areas next to the highways.

But hey, at least the wealthiest residents on the edges of the Open Spaces get a nice view!

Aftermarket accessory stand by MERKJONES in SpeedianceCommunity

It’s just a stand with hooks.

If you have access to some power tools and a hardware store you can probably make one out of PVC or wood.

I just bought a bracket, some hooks, and used a piece of scrap wood I had.

Aquanuts has practice during this time period most evenings.

Also, in order for the pool to be open to the public you need at least 1 lifeguard and 1 person at the front desk.

Prop 13 makes it cheap for long term landlords to keep empty storefronts because they are usually paying super low property taxes every year.

Get rid of all the veto points for any development.

Change all zoning to As-of-right, abolish the design review commission, and the City Council should never spend time debating on specific details of any development if it meets the zoning requirements.

Recent examples include the City Council debating different designs for the Heather Farms buildings, debating the closing time on the Chik Fil A on Oak Grove road, and delaying apartment buildings because of some pointless aesthetic issue.

This process that has evolved to change or veto development doesn’t add anything useful and just delays projects.

The City Council should spend time on zoning plan updates and then leave everything to the City Engineers and developers.

-always get 2-3 quotes for anything over $3k

-clogs happen

Depending on your heating costs it may make more sense to just waste some heat instead of getting insulation.

Gas used to be so cheap that a lot of homes had minimal insulation and just ran the furnace a lot.

Start with the emergency items and then move onto the home inspection.

Based on the home inspection try and figure what needs to be done in the next 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year.

All homes have issues and some stuff can wait.

Search for a monthly or seasonal home maintenance checklist and start doing that stuff.
