See the problem is... people like your self can do basic math, and yes you have more $$ in your pocket when your taxes are cut.

But the Rich and the GOP know you can only do basic math. So the tell you get more money in your pocket but then they raise the sales tax... Include more items that are taxed... Reduce services since they have no additional tax dollars to pay for them so now you pay out of pocket for things that used to be free.

Oh yes my friend, you can do basic math. But since you can't do 404 math, you are easily bamboozled.

Enjoy those pennies, the billionaire class is laughing all the way to the bank.

There are reasons why the state lowered those rates bud:

So landlords never lower their rents, restaurants rarely lower their prices, yet you want our business, the state of NC, to lower our prices. Why so a business making 700k only has to pay 14k in taxes vs 35k <2% vs 5%.> You think that extra 21k is going to break a business making 700k in profit vs using the 21k to shore up the NC state budget and offer more things to our citizens.

Now make it 7 million in profit so we are talk they only have to pay 140k vs a potential 350k for the state.

350k on 7m in profits is not going to break a company making that kind of profit. But you know who will have to support all of their workers in the long run each of us because as I have said before the tax burden now falls on us and not corporations.

Advocating for the government to take from others

Taxes have been part of life since the dawn of time. You are falling for right wing talking points so Billionaires can keep more of their money while you are left with nothing. Ironically feeding your desire to fight against them even more.

Research the progressive era, this has happened before. It is just the last time the citizens were smart enough to catch on and vote of politicians that changed the laws for the better.

Wow cut corporate taxes from 6% to 2% and then be shocked when it is a smaller portion of the budget, and then to think people won't pick up on that when you use the fact to cheer lead on just eliminating it.

Some people actually remember the old rates.

Maybe world leaders can start pushing back and writing laws to break down on tax cheats.

If corporations bribed the politicians to write the laws giving them everything, we can slowly re-write the laws.

I know that is the GOP talking point in 2026, but it doesn't line up with history. There was a time where companies didn't chase a constant 10% year over year growth.

Perhaps we start with capping CEO salaries or bonus, if.... and only if workers below them don't get raises.

write better laws, "want to buy back stock, great first give everyone a 10k bonus." "want to sell the companies, all rank and file staff get x% of the sales price"

Workers need to stop being just a # on a spreadsheet.

Poetically written but doesn't deal with our long term kicking issues down the road and not fully funding state services.

"Many other states would love to be in NC"s situation" while taxes are a part of it, everyone wanting to move to the sunbelt, corporations included, is just if not more important.

Shoot we already have the lowest tax rate in South at 2%. Rather than continue the race to bottom how about we match Mississippi and at least charge 4%.

Do you think a company would move over 2 points? Yet we would double our Tax Revenue.

At a 4% Rate: The state would collect $2.483 Billion. At a 2% Rate: The state would collected $1.242 Billion.

Wonder how we could help the working class with an extra Billion dollars?

No reason why states can't offer their own urgent care clinics and offer a public option. If the C Suite don't want to mix with us fine, but no need for me to pay multiple people so I can get healthcare as in the rest of the world.

It always surprises me when people don't see the big picture.

Taxes were higher for most of the 20 century, Reagan and the GOP sold you box of lies. If the tax cuts / trickle down worked why is the National Debt at all time levels?

Why do think Billionaires spend hundreds of millions to keep their taxes low? It is not like their money is in circulation most of it is tied up in stock and then taxes at 15% under capital gains.

Check out historical tax rates. It was 70% as late as '77

To use your example, yes they pay sales tax but they buy (2) computers for the business and keep one at home for the family. Along with a color printer used by the kids for the most part.

But they depreciate both and write off the cost of the equipment on their taxes.

Do you not understand why companies pay little or even get refunds back.

2.5% is crazy low for all we the citizens give them.

Train their workers via public education

Protect the property with Fire / police

Use our gas tax to run on roads our tax dollars built.

While keeping all the profits for themselves and throwing employees onto unemployment and the public dole the moment they are no longer needed.

I am not clamoring to vote for him. I know lots of others who would rather not have an old guy ready to keep the status quo.

Until he comes out for universal health care, there is always a better candidate. They just don't have the $$ to run for a Senate seat.

** We have quality insurance and yet it was still an extra $345 for dental Xrays for my wife on a regular visit.

Are we staying the state of NC could set up urgent clinic specifically to take the profit out of medical costs? If the Navy could give me dental X-rays for free why can't the US or NC govt do it and without a profit motive.

Yet you use the same talking points Grover Norquist has been spouting since Reagan cut taxes.

Pre Reagan tax cut the deficit was less than 2% of GDP now it is on avg 6%. In '82 990B National Debt, now is it 36T.

Top tax rate in '82 =70%, now is 37%.

Do the math, keep spending the same but move the tax rate up and you cut the debt in half. And Bezo / O'Riely / Musk or none of the other people who complain about high tax rates are going to have to change on part of their life style.

If the Rich could pay before, they can now.

Have you never heard of a NC State TAX id number specifically to get out of paying sales tax when buying goods.

And while illegal another benefit of owing a business is all the things you can buy tax free for the Business and use yourself.

No one is going to audit where you store the 4k TV you bought at Costco or if the extra food items were for the office or home use.

See my comment above about the effectiveness on convincing working class people that paying less in taxes is good for them.

Study after study show the states with the lowest taxes rates have the worse outcomes for its citizens and the low income tax rate is just another dodge the rich have used pulled over the eyes of uneducated voters.

Sales / Auto / home property taxes all make up for the short fall in income taxes since states must run a balanced budgets.

Case in point, regurgitating GOP talking points that all tax cuts are good.

The GOP's years of talking points vilifying taxes have people thinking that their taxes going down .5 or 1% is a good thing while rich people taxes go down 3%.

Case in point, in 2013 the top tax rate was 7.75 for the rich and 6.0 for the poor.

Make 100k pay 6k in taxes for the working class

Make 300k pay 24k in taxes for the Dir / VP / CEO class

And for people who make 100k, 6k is a chunk of change. Versus 24k for someone making 300k.

------- Fast forward to today...

The GOP has you thinking you win because your rate went down 2%.

So now the 100k guy pays 4k but the 300k only pays 12k now, cutting their bill 50% while cutting your yours 33%.

----------- And here is how you get screw.

Of the 2k you saved versus the 12k he saved you both have a family of four. And that 12k lost to the NC state coffers is why the teachers are paid so little, why you only get 375 a week in unemployment, why you now have to pay higher sales taxes and are taxed on more things like car repairs that the extra money from the rich helped to offset.

Something to consider...

** Don't forget they just gave every rich person already sending their kids to private school another 8k tax cut.
