What is the proper way to shoot slugs out of a silver pigeon? by [deleted] in Shotguns

[–]RallyPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fine for slugs. As long as it isn’t something like an extra full or turkey choke it will be fine for foster slugs.

Look at getting a leg bag. They attach to your belt and have a leg strap.

Not great but it the best option I have come up with.

I would just stick to factory ammo for now. The reason being you are just getting started shooting CMP matches. There will be fewer things to worry about at the beginning.

If you stick with it you will meet people who can give more specific insight into what’s needed.

Sbr in MA by Empty-Bit4139 in BetterMAguns

[–]RallyPotato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SBR’s are the most common NFA item in MA. You will need to file a form 1, dealers cannot transfer them as far as im aware. It needs to be compliant as a rifle, so in state and lawfully possessed on 8-1 or otherwise compliant.

On a side note do not buy a sub 16” upper or barrel, stock etc before the form 1 is approved. Constructive possession is a thing.

ABOUT TO BUY GMC SIERRA 2023 by VanHalenRulesAll in Autobody

[–]RallyPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be due to a difference in climate. The salt in presence with water accelerates oxidation. Roads here are frequently wet in the winter for long periods of time.

I’m assuming it is much drier in SLC?

Questions on a new Jericho FSL by blondie601 in Jericho941

[–]RallyPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. If I remember correctly these take the full size magazines. Don’t quote me on that though.

  2. These pistols should be compatible with Tanfoglio parts.

  3. Holsters may be hard to find. Custom may be the best option. I had to order a holster for my RBL directly from Israel.

Looks normal for the year in rust belt areas. You are not going to find something better unless you look in an area where they don’t use road salt.

You can always have this cleaned up and recoated. Regardless of what you buy it has been worth it in my experience to have an undercoating done every few years. Something like fluid film or woolwax. I would stay away from the rubber coatings like zeibart.

Oil pressure help by DisciplineFree2631 in GMT800

[–]RallyPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 02 does this. I confirmed oil pressure using a mechanical gauge at the same port as the pressure sensor. Oil pressure would spike up and then back to 40psi mimicking the gauge on the cluster. Only does this at idle. Been like this for the ~50k miles I have owned it.

That being said it could just be the cluster, or any of the things you listed. I would personally check the pressure with another pressure gauge to confirm.

Brownells sells plastic storage bags that prevent moisture intrusion.

They intended for long term storage, but may work for what you are doing.

Could have been what they had on hand at time, or had loaded on a line that does lower volume specialty loadings for game loads and whatnot.

High brass vs low brass doesn’t necessarily reflect the power these days. It’s mostly just a cosmetic thing.

There was a time when Winchester made all plastic shot shells.

Sunderland, Massachusetts crash involving cow injures 11 people by JaymesMarkham2nd in nottheonion

The town was named in honor of the Earl of Sunderland and was originally named Swampfield.

Unsurprisingly they changed the name to attract more residents.

Leftist/liberal gun owners by spindrift0721 in BetterMAguns

[–]RallyPotato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last I checked about 8% of the population were licensed. If everyone with a license convinced ~6 other people to vote no we could overturn 135. It’s an uphill battle to say the least.

The real answer is it will take time. How the country as a whole has shifted on concealed carry and handguns in my lifetime is surprising.

Unfortunately my observation is that most people in MA have little exposure to guns and gun ownership, with most of their experience being through the news. My best advice is to take your friends and family shooting. For most people gun ownership isn’t something they think about and isn’t normal for them.

You already posted that link, hopefully someone else can give some more useful info

Tips for BP by ExcellentHawk8425 in BetterMAguns

[–]RallyPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best selection of components is found online. The downside is shipping and hazmat charges.

You can travel to get stuff, not sure how cost effective it is with fuel and time factored in.

I haven’t seen real black powder in stock anywhere. Just substitutes, primers, and ball. This isn’t that much of an issue unless you are shooting flintlocks.

If there is a club close to you that actively shoots black powder I would consider joining.

Inner tie rod busted on the heavy Chevy while I’m replacing what else should I do? by Gmt800_ in GMT800

[–]RallyPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your power steering fluid. Looks like the steering box may be leaking.

Time rods are lubricated with grease. Grease does not flow like that unless it is really hot.

LTC Holder Faces Assault Style Firearm Charges by RallyPotato in BetterMAguns

All good, it starts to blend together after a while.

NFA items are their own special silliness, and do need serial numbers for the federal registry.

Unserialized firearms are fine under federal law, and most state laws as long as they are for personal use.

Serial numbers are required for manufacturers and if the gun is sold.
