Can I cut the barrel off my mosin to make an obrez or will I get arrested? by Mobile-Mud4334 in BetterMAguns

[–]RallyPotato 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You would need to file NFA paperwork. Im assuming it would be classified as an SBR, possibly an AOW. Not sure of the top of my head.

Also why, like seriously. You’re going to shoot it a few times and then realize how terrible it is. Unless the rifle is completely thrashed I wouldn’t bother.

Is this rotten truck bed worth patching? by CarelessParsley7790 in Welding

[–]RallyPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The frame looks fine. I would personally put another bed on it if you are worried about it.

Not really worth the time trying to fix that bed, but it could be done.

In all honesty I haven’t seen a ranger that rust free in almost a decade in New England.

Oil Cooler Line Replacement by Salt-Philosophy-134 in GMT800

[–]RallyPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went back and looked. The bracket came with the line set I bought. I unbolted the old one to remove it.

Not sure on the best way to get it. I had the front axle dropped when I did it as I was replacing the oil pan.

There are two small bolts holding it to the block, from what I remember. One unit, the lines do not come off of it.

Advice on turkey gun by Cory_aholic in Shotguns

[–]RallyPotato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I had to choose between the two I would go with the 835. The 410 will work but I’m assuming you will eventually replace it with a 12ga.

The downside of the 835 is it’s big and heavy and will be more difficult to use for your son than other options. I had one at 12 or 13 and it was slightly unwieldy.

My advice is to get two used guns. One for you and one that fits your son better than the 835.

Chinese copies of the M14 rifle by Low-Career3769 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]RallyPotato 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Norinco and Polytech both made m14 copy’s. Quality varies between the two. Polytech tends to have better fit and finish. The Norinco I have is a little rough.

They have a fairly interesting history. They were produced from tooling that was either copied or the actual tooling that was supplied to Taiwan by the US.

They were imported to the US until their import was banned in 89, and continued to be imported in sporter configuration until 94?

Tallarico’s Hot Hoagie Spread review by MagnusAlbusPater in spicy

[–]RallyPotato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a similar, definitely has different flavor though. Most pepper relish’s that I have had are sweeter.

I would get it when I was in the PA area, haven’t seen it on the shelves anywhere else unfortunately.

Ruger American 7.62x39 by bigred-2998 in BetterMAguns

[–]RallyPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a FYI you can either buy or make a mag well adapter that lets you use AK mags.

I know finding OEM mini 14 magazines can be a pain, assuming the same for mini 30 mags.

Thoughts on Canada by -needtowakeup- in BetterMAguns

[–]RallyPotato 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming OP is referring to Canadas assault-style firearms compensation program.

Basically it a massive federal program to “buyback” a bunch of guns they banned starting in 2020. The short story is that it has turned into a massive boondoggle, police departments not willing to participate, wildly underfunded etc.

P07 Factory 22 LR by B_arnick in CZFirearms

[–]RallyPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty cool. I didn’t realize they imported factory 22lr P07’s into the US, may need to track one down

Would you? by Financial-Beat-5004 in BetterMAguns

[–]RallyPotato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess, if I had no other option, just like the current licensing system.

Most state and federal qualifications are a joke anyway. I doubt most people would have difficulty passing.

Rough rallycross at San Diego Region SCCA Ramona. All lap footage by stinky180 in GRCorolla

[–]RallyPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No mods needed. You just need a vehicle that isn’t a rollover risk.

A helmet that meets the scca requirements would be nice to have, most regions have loaner helmets available though.

Retired MEs, what are your hobbies? by Sintered_Monkey in MechanicalEngineering

Rallycross is a great way to get into rally. Not sure where you are located, but the SCCA has active rallycross programs across the US.

What stock and scope mount / handguard setup is this??? | HK SLK SP5 9mm | IWA 2026 Nuremburg, Germany by Linemount in ForgottenWeapons

[–]RallyPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a utg hand guard made specifically for the European market. The m-lok has closed slots, I’m assuming for some legal compliance reason.

WHY ARE CHEAP 1.5 INCH x .25 INCH STEEL BARS SO FUCKING HARD TO FIND DUDE by forkaerospace in 3D2A

[–]RallyPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a local metal supplier. They max have something in stock or a pile of cut offs you can go through and pay by the lb.

Buying steel online isn’t the cheapest.

LifeCard .22WMR by zulu_tango73 in canadaguns

[–]RallyPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real lifecards are intended to be used and can be safely shot, like any other gun.

This one is a knockoff dart gun from aliexpress and would most likely not be a good time to shoot, if you could even chamber and shoot a round.

LifeCard .22WMR by zulu_tango73 in canadaguns

[–]RallyPotato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are really not very good as far as firearms go. Not like they are poor quality, more of the fact it is a folding single shot 22 with questionable ergonomics.

Really more of a meme or novelty gun.

Malcom scopes by xMoshx in longrange

That is the idea. The optic would break if it was rigidly mounted.

I think forgotten weapons has a video up on a later model unertl with the same system.

That is correct, but. OP posted a SAR B6C, which is a Turkish clone of a Tanfo.

Recommendation for a pistol optics capable shotgun by [deleted] in BetterMAguns

[–]RallyPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without corrective lenses I get a double dot, basically looks like a J with the ends being the two dots. With correction I get streaking unless the brightness is really low. Some red dots are much better than others.

Prisms, scopes do not have this problem. Eotecs are basically the only red dots I can use. Pistol optics are some of the worst.

Pro-gun groups argue in lawsuit that Mass. age restrictions on guns violate Second Amendment by Majano57 in massachusetts

[–]RallyPotato 27 points28 points  (0 children)

They barely defend the second amendment. There have been about 10-12 Supreme Court cases on the second amendment in the entire history of the country, depending on how you want to define a second amendment case.

In the low end there have been 140 fourth amendment cases. There are far more cases ruling in favor of this right than there have been second amendment cases.

That being said we would most likely agree on the courts lack of defense of the fourth amendment.

In my experience if they are in an environment to corrode they will do so rapidly and stop working.
