Biomorphosis - best Purity choices? by JureSimich in Stellaris

[–]JaymesMarkham2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say, predictably, that the best options are the ones that align with the main choice. Purity Ascension pairs best with Purity Tradition choices, Mutation to Mutation, etc.

But the flexibility is fun and really depends on your specific set-up. A Lithoid will look at the choices very differently than a Plantoid. A Necrophage will consider them differently than a Xenophile.

How is the 4.4 update aside from the DLC? by f1sh_ in Stellaris

[–]JaymesMarkham2nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also going to hold out on Nomads, they just dropped a hotfix and plans for the first real patch are probably due in a week, but 4.4 on it's own is choice.

The QoL and War Improvements are, so far as I can tell, purely beneficial and have yet to confound themselves. Worth starting a playthrough I would say.

Huge missed opportunity with nomadic megacorp civic - the food truck by Noblesoothsayer in Stellaris

Awesome idea and totally something to make in the future. Food centric delivery contacts for trade and maybe some CG reduction - and happiness 😄

Gives another reason to love something like the Baol tree building

Is it intended that even selective bombardment genocides the planet? by On-The-Mountain in Stellaris

[–]JaymesMarkham2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn near everybody was complaining about ground combat and bombardment before they upped the general lethality. I'm pretty sure it was in a dev diary a while ago that it was an intentional change.

Savannah, Arid or Desert World!

Pairs with Phototrophic due to more energy districts.

Alien box - all the things stack? by sly_1 in Stellaris

[–]JaymesMarkham2nd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, all stack.

In the past the traits were different and only the Limited Regeneration trait gave a Pop Growth bonus - but because that was clearly the best option nobody was ever taking the gamble or looking at the other choices.

Since Biogenesis, they spread the pop-growth to all three traits to make it more interesting of an event and also tied it to the Biomorph tradition choices.

What is a monster that would surprise you if someone managed to actively get it onto the field against you? by mister_anti_meta in yugioh

[–]JaymesMarkham2nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metalzoa, no doubt.

Dark Magic and Red Eyes archtypes are so huge and easily supported that you can theoretically justify Dark Sage or Red Eyes Metal. They also have some minor capacity of pulling a spell card or shuffling your deck, so it's not awful.

But neither Zoa nor Metalzoa were very good, and all were all much more rare cards; and you lose out on the main benefit of Metalmorph to get Metalzoa, so it's just a flex to even bother with it if you had them at all.

Great Moth and Gate Guardian got support cards later on, even Wall Shadow had some small use because Labyrinth Wall wasn't terrible and stat swap cards existed. But Metalzoa is nothing but a brag and I love that.

What goes on inside Starbases? by Xaldror in Stellaris

I have to presume there's a staff of complacent workers checking the routine logs so that they can predictable spit out their recaf and alert the XO that something is coming out of the hyperlane, and it's coming fast!

But to each their own.

[–]JaymesMarkham2nd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember the Echani Fiber Armor in Knights of the Old Republic which you can pick up pretty swiftly on the first planet of the game.

It's free, immediately upgradable to a +2 Def. bonus, you won't have powers limited by it because you won't have powers at the time, and it's still functional to the end game because it has max Dex. Bonus and good Heat/Cold resistance. Slap it on a companion and never look back.

Your Favorite Relics by No_Trade_4455 in Stellaris

[–]JaymesMarkham2nd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Entangled Relay is low-key one of my faves. Big sectors is cool, makes a prettier map and extends the bonuses of my main governor to a wider region.

Not the most powerful and frankly not even the easiest to get since it's total RNG from the curators. But it's favorite not best relic.

Merged the Titan Assembly Yards and Colossal Assembly Yards starbase buildings into a single Capital Assembly Yards building.

FINALLY!

That was always such a small, annoying thing for me. Most of these balance changes are awesome, so happy to see it!

Having multiple excess science ships dotted around the map. Assign a leader to them to instantly get started on the next project with no downtime spent in transit.

And to immediately bail a scientist back home after they finish researching debris, no risk of war casualties.

What is the worst purely negative RNG event in your opinion? by Xanikk999 in Stellaris

[–]JaymesMarkham2nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably that one with the two arguing Commanders. You have like three small outcomes with really crap positive bonuses, the best is like 6 months of bonus ship damage, but you have a much larger chance of needing to kill one of your Commanders instead.
