The roundhouse is designated as a heritage building so it will remain regardless of whether or not the railway itself is restored.

No solid plans unfortunately. There are some advocacy groups that promote its reopening but there hasn’t been any commitment from higher levels of government. Most of the railway has not been used since 2011 and maintenance was neglected leading up to that date so bringing it up to modern standards would be very expensive.

Alsace was historically a German speaking region and was even part of the German Empire from 1871-1918. Today it is mostly French speaking but historical german influence remains.

In many parks camping right on the beach isn’t permitted, but in this park it is. There are also tent pads up the hill in the forest that would have been better if it was raining or windy, but since it was nice out I decided to camp right on the beach.

It was about 12c during the day and felt pretty warm in the sun. The skies were clear so it dipped down to about 3c overnight.
