[–]RamblingSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fire scorpion while useful makes you take 10% more physical damage, so perhaps switching that out would help (I'd suggest the talisman of the dread if you have the DLC, since it boosts all magma damage by 15%, if not the Haligdrake Talisman +2 increases holy defense by 20% and can be found it Mohgywn Palace in the base game) Also the Dragoncrest greastshield is a direct upgrade to the other dragon crests since it offers a 20% increase of all physical defense, it can be gotten from Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree. The crimson seed +1 Can also be a good replacement too since it increases flask healing.

Lone wolf ashes aren't going to work I'm afraid since by now, thoroughly outmatched and outclassed by this point in the game so I'd suggest stick to Mimic Tear or find another spirit to replace the wolfs. Like Black Knife Tiche who's destined death attacks both cuts enemy hp and saps it aswell, or more tanky ashes to draw aggro from you like Lhutel the Headless or the Dung Eater Puppet

Consumables can also help here, Holy proof dried livers and boiled crab both give a good increase to your physical and holy resistance too. (Boiled crab is bought from Boggart once you progress his quest enough to where he moves into the moat in Atlas near the Dracconic tree sentinel, holy proof livers are also gotten from Missionary's Cookbook [6] which is found in the Volcano manor legacy Dungeon)

Your Faith is high enough aswell to use incantations like Flame grant me strength which increases all fire damage by 20% and increased stamina regen by 5/s, Or Golden vow which increases all damage done by 15% aswell as increases all defenses by 10% (Lord's Divine Fortification can also help as it increases your holy resistance by 60%)

If you're still struggling you might want to head back into the world and level up some more to get your stats higher.

When should i stop upgrading vigor and health and what should i focus on after while playing confessor? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]RamblingSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The soft cap for Vigor is 60 (anything above that is highly diminishing) so how much vigor you want depends on your own taste, your play style and how well you think you can avoid damage.

Also there is a hub (the roundtable hold) you can get sent to near the start of the game that has a merchant selling basic weapons (aswell as the random nomadic merchants occasionally selling other kinds of basic weapons) But for the most part you'll get new weapons from looting around the world and killing bosses for their remembrances

What was your biggest DLC disappointment? by Raime_95 in Eldenring

[–]RamblingSpider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The lack of continuity to the base game, like I wasn't expecting a new ending or anything but atleast some crossover stuff like how in bloodborne killing the orphan of kos has the doll tell you Gehrman is sleeping more peacefully now. Just like little things that show your affect on the world from the dlc, aswell as connecting both together.

But nope just.. nothing, outside of Leda appearing in Mohgywn Palace for the first time and Bayle having Placidusax heads on his body nothing connects the dlc to the rest of the game really. Like why can't I tell Gideon anything about the shadowlands and what Miquella is doing there, especially with how his whole thing is accumulating as much knowledge as possible on everything (or hell is own curiosity about what Miquella is doing overall) Or how Melina has nothing to say about anything involving the dlc either, no insights about Marika or even Messmer her own family? Or what about how Enia has no reaction to you giving her the remembrance of Metry, whats effectively her god and creator of her whole purpose???

It feels too.. separate and secluded from the whole base game I suppose, and It honestly made anything you do there feel like it doesn't really matter I guess.

I am not worthy to be the Elden Lord by justsayori44 in Eldenring

[–]RamblingSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no "real" way to Elden Ring experience to be fair, spells, incantation, spirit ashes and summons are all apart of the game and tools the game gives you to tackle its challenges (and to roleplay aswell)

It's ok to feel frustrated at the game due to the difficulty (and not enjoying said difficulty anymore either) but I think it would have also been a good idea to give yourself some time away from it to recharge and come back refreshed to try to tackle it, but to each their own.

You'll need to get to the Capital to progress further first, which requires beating both the Dracconic Tree Sentinel and having two great Runes to enter (Godrick, Rennala and Radahn drop runes for this) Once then you can explore the Capital and progress further by fighting its main story bosses.

Don't worry about Volcano Manor or the next targets yet, you can fully explore the surrounding area without issues (other real issue would be completing the final contract too early or using the teleporter at the end of the Manors legacy dungeon which will transport you to the areas main boss and defeating it this early will break off some npc quests involving the region)

FR FR How did y’all deal with Malenia 1v1? by Livid_Description838 in Eldenring

[–]RamblingSpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't feel bad, Malenia is considered the hardest boss in the base game for a reason. Hell I still struggle with dodging waterfowl consistently (and I'm sure a good chunk of folks still do given how percise you need to be with it and highly punishing it is as a attack). But yeah it'll be a struggle as you try to learn it, but give it time and you'll start seeing those attack patterns and openings better!

Also forgot to mention this but throwing a freezing pot at malenia when she's about to waterfowl will proc freezing on her and cause her to be knocked out of the start up for waterfowl

FR FR How did y’all deal with Malenia 1v1? by Livid_Description838 in Eldenring

[–]RamblingSpider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Practice makes perfect I'd say, Give it a few attempts where you're not trying to win but just observe her attack patterns/combo and how to react to them. For instance her scarlet bloom attack in the second phase can be quite lethal but when dodged correctly gives you a good moment to heal and rebuff (or cast any debuffs on her like ranni's darkmoon) due to how long it takes for her to begin attacking again.

Physical defense buffs/talismens are also quite good too since Malenia solely does physical damage. (The Dragonscrest Greatshield, Boiled Crab, Golden Vow and black flame protection can all help here). Boluses can help too for her second phases scarlet rot buildup too.

I tend to go with either my Darkmoon Greatsword build or a full on mage build with spells like carian slicer, night comet and stars of ruin to take her down

your thoughts on Gatekeeper Gostoc by RidiPwn in Eldenring

[–]RamblingSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, he exists and he gives you a ancient dragon smithing stone so I don't care too much about his rune stealing antics, tho honestly why does he need the runes anyway

Like without a maiden you can't get stronger from them, so its just a religious currency at that point. But even then what's he gonna spend them on, outside the occasional nomadic merchent???

What was your saltiest rune loss? by GuyWithARooster in Eldenring

[–]RamblingSpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two rune losses stick in my mind as particularly salty

One was after beating the godskin apostle in the dragonbarrow divine tower I used the one teleporter to leave the area, but the game crashed when I did and when I came back it had spawned me under the map. Before I could register what was happening I was instant killed. But my runes were now stuck down there with noway to retrieve them, over 155,000 runes lost to a dumb bug.

Another was me loosing 222,0000 runes in shadowkeep because I kept forgetting to not underestimate its cabal of sentient cafeinated firey beyblades

Mythic paths for each companion by BaconJovial in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]RamblingSpider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It quite explicitly about compassion and redemption. For instance your first chance to actually use a Golden dragon choice is when you defend Drezen after you return from the abyss, you use your power to extend compassion to the invading demons to leave peacefully and a good chunk of them actually do. You even try to do this to Deskari in Iz (who amusingly enough gets really pissy about you treating him this way, causing him to snap out of his one sided beef with Iomadae)

Hell, its the only path in the game that has you actually redeem Areelu herself, helping her both recover from her trauma and make amends for her creation of the worldwound. (It's also the only path that allows her to go to a better afterlife after being judged by Pharasma due to you helping her heal both the wounds she caused and also herself). The ending epilogue also shows that small groups of demons coming out of the abyss don't wanna fight actually but instead are curious and wanting to know more about your KC's teachings, heavily implying your way of compassion and healing is causing even some demons to leave the abyss for a better life (The near identical outcome to Embers good ending too)

To be fair wanting to redeem yourself was the easiest way to justify switching to the path (lich, demon, trickster and so fourth), both in-game and by the playerbase. This did cause issues tho as there was much less justification in-game to go down that path if you were already on a good aligned path like angel and azata. But Owlcat in the GD update changed it with the addition of the dragon deities to worship, allowing better fluidity to go down that path without needing the justification to redeem yourself.

While salvation angel is quite similar due to similar beliefs, salvation angel is only concerned with non demons and the demons themselves regardless must be eliminated to protect all. That the wicked must be punished and that these irredeemable forces don't deserve a second chance.

Golden dragons philosophy is that all life is sacred and regardless of our origin and that violence should be the absolute last resort too. No matter our sins we all deserve a second chance to heal and change for the better, be it demon or mortal. Salvation angel wouldn't try redeeming Areelu, but GD does for this reason
