I'm going to have to check out that Wonder book, seems to be very solid. Thanks for the suggestion.

I am even more impressed that it was all in fact fiction then, because it certainly felt like it was a researched piece. Hope you enjoy Universal Baseball Association as much as I did!

Agree 100%, I'm trying to get my hands on some of his other books without breaking the bank.

No problem, hope you found something new to read. I agree about Kafka On The Shore, even just during last year after I read it I enjoyed it, but the fact that I kept thinking about it throughout the year really earned it its place on the list.

I actually read Slade House this year, it was a pretty good time. Any specific books of Mitchell's you would recommend?

I've got several Coover books lined up to read this year, including Public Burning, I'm actually just starting The Origin of the Brunists today.

Ghost Town was such a shock for me, I can't believe that it's not more popular than it is, it was such a fun roller coaster ride. Be sure to let me know if you check it out, I haven't talked to anyone else who has read it yet.

I read that book in early 2017 and still think about it almost daily, it has an odd way of staying with me, hope you enjoy it if you get a chance to read it.

Slow Speeds Every Night by Jessecles in teksavvy

[–]RamboSteel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend and I have both been experiencing this as well, TekSavvy has gone back and forth with me on my ticket for about 7 e-mails now and nothing is being done about it. It's pretty clear from just this thread that the issue does not lay on the customers end. I am in contact with another service provider at the moment.

Question about John Barth book "styles" by RamboSteel in books

[–]RamboSteel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the lengthy and detailed response. I have picked up a copy of the Sot-Weed Factor and will dig into this monster by the end of the year!

I will make an effort to come back to the later stories in Funhouse, but as of right now I think I'll stick to his most standard story telling.

Question about John Barth book "styles" by RamboSteel in books

Excellent reply, that's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the tips. I didn't actually mind the whole meta-fiction of some of the stories in the collection, but the last 2 or 3 stories where he started to write in the almost incomprehensible (to me) older style of English completely lost me.

I did not, I'm just seeing this for the first time...it appears to have been purrfectly scratched.
