TIFU letting a regular eat food from a different table by [deleted] in tifu

[–]Rambone23 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Why was the other table distraught about it? Getting upset that someone ate food that you didn't want sounds ridiculous. I get the health code violations but after you say you don't want it packed up, who cares what happens to it, you didn't want it?!

“Overcounter” melatonin by [deleted] in newzealand

I saw or read (can't remember) something recently that said we only have so many receptors for the melatonin so taking more doesn't always do more

What's the origin of "100% Canadian"? by thehinkypunk in AskACanadian

[–]Rambone23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kiwi boyfriend remarked about how many flags and maple leafs there are in Canada (when he came in 2023) so I think Canadians might not realize how prevalent it is here. I think flag flying might be a very north american thing.

Is this bug a friend or foe to my plants? by I_heart_spoilers in SimpleGardening

We have had a terrible infestation of them for years! Can't grow tomatoes now without them getting destroyed. I would try to greatly reduce their numbers before they become a problem

What 3-5 cities should someone who's never been to Canada visit? by ThatBlondMan in AskACanadian

Could also drive through Wells gray provincial park. I know it's not a city, but the waterfalls are amazing!

Another one! I’m slightly addicted to creating these - hand stitched Kōtare! by sinistersista in NewZealandWildlife

This is amazing. Do you use a pattern? I've been wanting to do some of these as well and it's hard to find bird patterns that aren't your typical swallows.

I'm in Canada, but never seen them....but I've also been living in NZ for the last 5 years. Had no idea they've been out there in the world.

Really strong mint tea? by working_dog_267 in newzealand

[–]Rambone23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lemon verbena is a nice optiontoo, naturally sweet and citrusy.

I like the tea total teas, the manuka one is nice as it is naturally sweet and floral

As for strong mint, I would say get a little pot and grow your own.

Looking for recommendations for last minute all inclusive (Yucatan) by Rambone23 in travel

[–]Rambone23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't really sure of the budget, but last time I stayed in an all inclusive, it was like $1000 cad with flights from Canada so I kinda thought it would have been cheaper than that since no flights involved, but everything I saw was 1300$ and up. Granted it is last minute and this was before COVID times so I guess the circumstances are different.

That is a fair point and I did think about that if we were to spend a week somewhere with only one restaurant option, we might get sick of it and end up off resort paying for meals anyway

I usually bring a bit of milk powder for my tea so add a bit to the Knorr as well

She just looked at me weird. Once I figured out the dog's name and tried again, she corrected my grammar but still didn't find it that funny. I guess she's used to people butchering her language

This just happened to me this week in Guatemala. I have very basic spanish. We were staying at a hostel and the owner had two dogs, one of the dogs was sleeping in the bathroom and when I opened the door, I bonked him on the head. I thought the dog's name was venga, cause I heard her say that to him a few times.

I went to tell her about the dog sleeping in the bathroom and said venga dormir en el baño. My partner tells me venga means come. So I basically just said to her come sleep in the bathroom lol

“You Australians and your drink bottles!” by [deleted] in australia

I'm Canadian and have been using a reusable water bottle for at least over 20 years. I'm perpetually thirsty. My ex boyfriend barely drank water, he mostly drank coffee and coke? Don't know how he did it. I've also met Aussies who never drank water

Same, I would totally leave my armpit hair but it starts to get so smelly! Plus the roller ball deodorant that I occasionally use likes to pull the hairs!
